Again, many fans think we’ll lose 4 or more games. To those fans this season doesn’t matter. Since it doesn’t matter, get Brennan as much experience as possible.

But you don’t play hypothetically. Now we lose next 4 in a row, this arguement is more valid. The argument then is with our current OL let’s let Danny take the lumps and keep Brennan healthy for next year.

Not if it's a timing route. You throw the ball as the receiver makes his break.

That's QB 101

If the receiver doesn't flow through the entire route....bad things usually happen

Watching Etling reminded me of the lesson I learned watching Archie Manning with the Saints .. you can't throw the ball while laying on your back on the field..

He had very little time for plays to develop.

Lol at not being his fault. Also, was the pic 6 that should have been not his fault either?

looking for a QB that can hit a 25 yard down and out

i'd settle for one who can throw a slant and a 10 yard dig. one that can read and react to what the defense is doing and make smart decisions.

why is canada calling such slow developing plays in the first place? why not call quick strike passes that neutralize a pass rush? i'm not a football coach but that makes a good bit of sense to me.

Look at the second pic again. The fact that anyone thinks that a QB rolling right as fast as he can make a late throw over the middle is just goofy. AR with GB may be the only QB in the country that could make that throw.

Did you forget Pat Mahomes that quick? He was a master at doing this. Go rewatch highlights of LSU vs Texas Tech. He was firing passes accurately in the oddest positions. He is known for slinging passes accurately across his shoulder. Really hate that Pittsburgh didn't get this guy

Go back and watch that play. It was a quick slant. That ball was thrown behind Davis. Way behind. Can't throw to where receiver gonna be when receiver already passed that point

That was not a quick slant, it was a curl/hook route. You dont even know routes at all.

Hence why Davis turned around completely, he then shuffled his feet sideways right as Brennan was throwing it. Brennan was throwing exactly to the spot Davis was SUPPOSED to be at. Again Davis took FULL BLAME for the INT. Are you saying he's wrong too?

Except a different QB might be able to handle the OL issues better. Look at the 2 images below from the Advocate. Both times showing plays that COULD have been made, but Etling was unable to find either guy under pressure. Those aren't easy, but they are plays that the better QB's in this league will make to extend drives. Can Brennan do that? I have no idea, but we won't know until he tries.

On both those plays Etling was PRESSURED, big change. When you dont have time to sit back and scan for a seconds you're usually not going to find an open guy near as well. In the first photo Etling is JUST getting his feet set starting to scan the field and an edge rusher is about to hit in in a second. In the second photo he was flushed out of the pocket due to pressure and it's inane to think he's going to look ACROSS the opposite side of the field for a guy that's open, also, coaches ALWAYS teach you to NEVER throw back across the field unless it's a designed play. So why would he throw it him in that situation? Neither of those are good examples. Both plays he was pressured very quickly and the second one in particular would be a horrible throw to make, as again, you dont throw back across the field across your body.

It's almost a moot point though. With this offensive line every quarterback on the roster might have some snaps.

INT was not Brennan's fault at all.

Correct. The one that was dropped was definitely his fault. But no harm done there. Just learn from it.

The second one was not his fault. It looked like an awful throw, but when I rewatched it, the receiver ran a wrong route or cut the wrong way, and owned up to it.

I’m excited to see him bulk up and get more comfortable and more experience. He was being rushed and still kept his eyes downfield going through his progression.
