this thread has suprised me...I thought the spread was the trendy thing to do and that I was the only one who wasn't behind the idea...

Auburn lead the nation in rushing last year, running the ball 70% of the time ... Fournette would run wild in a SPREAD

Just because they line up in spread formations doesn't mean they run a spread offense.

7 of the last 10 national champions do not run the SPREAD!!!

True. And the teams that won it needed arguably 2 of the top college QB'S ever to win the title.

Goddamnit I hate people on this board who advocate some full on switch to the Oregon "spread" just as much as those that defended the terrible heavy packages we ran incessantly for the first several games.

If you have the athletes, you run a pro-style offense. The spread can maximize speed and take advantage of size deficiencies in the trenches. But if you have power lineman, balanced backs, good receivers, and a capable quarterback, a well balanced pro-style is ideal.

And while running the SPREAD, they win CHAMPIONSHIPS, right? Because our goal in running OFFENSE is to score POINTS, and win CHAMPIONSHIPS, and all CHAMPIONSHIP teams run the SPREAD, right?

We’re gonna win the National Championship this year?

The two best offensive plays of the night were a halfback pass to the QB and a QB deflected pass completed to himself. It's about the OPTIONS omg!!

ETA: It was also pretty impressive when Oregon's coach was whining about the ineligible man downfield call against him when the lineman was literally 10 yards down the field and beyond the first down marker.

I was hoping this thread was actually started as sarcasm poking fun at many of the retarded group of lsu fans, but this imbecile was serious with his thread.

Stanford seems to be okay against these teams, and they run the compact more than we do..
