One thing LSU needs to do to move back to elite status

What benefits are being provided by Alabama to keep top draftable players from leaving early?

Clemson's toughest game of the year (prior to the playoffs) was Texas A&M.
I truly believe they would be a 2-3 loss team each year if they had to play Georgia, Alabama, LSU, A&M, Auburn, Florida, etc, week after week.

You'd have to have just crawled out from under a rock to not know that LSU has an issue with draft eligible players leaving early.
It's a double edged sword. On the one hand, players who have that potential can see LSU's success in getting guys to the NFL.
On the other hand, we have more spots to fill on an annual basis than other teams, which makes it tougher to put a consistentyly great product on the field.
The answer to that problem is way beyond me. It's kind of hard to tell a 20 or 21 year old that he can wait to get his hands on millions of dollars, especially when most of them have trouble getting hundreds in their hands.

1. Can't miss on the DL prospects. Clemson has been very good in this aspect or lucky.
2. Start working the recruiting system better. You have to over sign and purge certain players to build quality depth along the trenches (bama)
I'm not sure of the numbers, but I'd like to know what schools lead in playing True Freshman the past 5-6 years.

This is not new and insightful information.
LSU gets top tier talent, but we dont Develop the guys like Alabama and Clemson. Thats the difference, plain and simple.

Actually, if you lose a higher % of underclassmen to the NFL than Alabama and Clemson, you must recruit better athletes on an annual basis than they do to remain competitive with them (assuming you can coach on their level).
Yet, Alabama (and, often, Clemson) out-recruits us AND retains players better than we do.
Both deficiencies must be addressed, but convincing players to stay seems the easier of the two.

Maybe our fans on message boards should stop cheering players on for turning pro early, calling it a "business decision," etc. Players read that stuff. We shouldn't bash them if they do go pro, but lately, not bashing has turned to actually urging them to to leave early. It's really weird.
It's almost like we have people here who aren't really LSU fans.

I don’t know the answer either.
It’s sucks though, so tired of losing players early they could help the team and themselves by playing college ball one more year.
Imo it’s been one of LSU footballs top 3 problems since 2011.

i think people have it backwards...
you don't get seniors to come back and then get to the playoff.
The seniors come back when they know they will get to the playoff.
I may not agree with it, but coming back for a chance at a Natty is one thing, coming back for another peach bowl is another.
That was what was so disastrous about 2016. Tre White and Beckwith and Leonard stayed because they thought we could compete for a championship and we ended up 8-4.
But we keep going like we are going, and upper-classmen will start staying more often.

Alabama gets the #1 class every year. Aside from skill, this brings depth. Their players must prove themselves before even getting a chance to play in games. It may very well be year 3 before they become a starter. We started freshmen this season out of necessity. Returning for a 4th year to start your second full season and win a national championship doesn't sound that unreasonable.

Yeah, lately...wasn't like this before. I think we only have 2-3 less NFLers right now than them. Ours are performing much better than their's are, by the way.
Bama gets high 4-stars from out of state and with offers from every school in the country to take grey shirts. If what I was told is true, Jarez Parks actually paid $40K+ for his first year, too...he didn't just sit out.
I believe they're cheating.
