I have listened to mr. Hawthorne my whole life. Gonna miss him

I loved his voice but I grew to hate his short fuse and audible frustration in recent years. Good baseball announcer, average basketball announcer, bad football announcer. LSU legend.

ETA: Agree that the Jack Hunt meme has been beaten to death. "... for a nice gain on the play" turning into "2nd and 9 for the Taaahhhhgrrrs" 25 seconds later was what pissed me off on the reg.

I love "Jack Hunt" because it showed just how amazing and stunning the play was. He completely lost his mind there, and confused a white defensive back who most certainly wouldn't have been on the field in that situation with a black wide receiver. It is one of the least likely endings any game has ever had, forget about just involving LSU. It was so out of the blue, he was completely unprepared for it. It was like doing play by play for a bolt of lightning.

I agree. John Ferguson was the "voice of the Tigers."

He calls Saban his friend?
