"That team was so far advanced than us, but that's something we're striving for," Freeman said. "We're taking it one game at a time, and we're grateful for every opportunity, and trying to make the most of it."

The players are advanced but the coach is terrible.

No I get it. The reason we lost was turnovers and Mickeys play. Mickey didn't show up tonight and 15+ turnovers is a joke. Well, go ahead and add the play of Gray in there, my lord.

How long have the core starters been playing together for LSU?

Most of you guys are really young. His name is Jeff Jones. He is from Ky, son of a legendary D-2 HC. He was a great ACC Guard assisting Ralph Sampson dunks at UVa(beat LSU for 3rd place in 1981 Final 4 consolation gm) from 1978-1982.

He's extremely smart, and has been an HC for 23 of the last 24 years, despite being but 54 yrs old. Became an Asst Coach immediately in 1982 for Terry Holland after his playing career ended.

Has a somewhat journeyman lifetime W-L mark, but considering it was at UVa, American, and ODU, it's pretty impressive.

The man knows his hoops, and coaching craft.

My first time to watch Josh Gray play last night and I was not impressed, I hope that game was an exception to the rule.
Bad decisions at the point all night.
Looked like he was on 3 doses of Ritalin too.

i thought he played under control tuesday night, only saw the second half and the end of the first, martin looked like our best player. seemed like our guards could have played better. ODU is a good team, i think we kind of just switched off mentally after that hot start and once you do that its hard to turn it back on against such a well organized team.

they started two seniors and two juniors
we started two transfers and two soph's and it was our.....3rd game?

Let me tell yal something as a coach of basketball; albeit it isn't coaching college basketball the point remains the same.

Good coaching takes time. When someone says a certain team is a well coached group of players, theoretically they are complimenting the coaching these guys have received for years.

Johnny Jones has had a year and a couple of games with Jarrel and and Mickey and that isn't a lot for two dude's with their own agenda's.
Hornsby, Gray, Bridgewater, Epps ect, this is his first year with them.

9 out of 10 times mid-majors make schools like.....well, SEC schools look like buffoons. They will share more, shoot better, exhibit more patience, block out better and so forth.

Our innate abilities are supposed to shine through. Problem is - that this team has NO SPACING for there are only two players who's shot warrants the defense's attention. Gray and Hornsby

As I wondered before the season, why are we even starting Elbert Robinson. Must have been some recruiting promise lol

Jerrell Martin is such a hyped prospect for his ability to play the wing; but he isn't money from out there on the stripe and this will plague us as he continues to showcase his skills.

Josh Gray is our PG, but also our best scorer= never good. 4 turn-overs and 8 points yuck

Old Dominion went 9 deep (all 10 min. plus)
they started two seniors and two juniors

LSU went 5 deep(noone else registered over 8 minutes)

Tim Quarterman will be a senior here one day. And he will have the experience of champions after our 2015-2016 squad.

gray, quarterman
blankley or sampson, hornsby
simmons, quarterman
epps
mickey (i hope)

Johnny Jones is not a good x and o coach. Another version of Miles that will have a winning team with recruiting but will rarely, if ever, be a factor for a national championship.

all sounds like qualities of better coaching IMO

JJ can recruit but his x's and o's suck…his new assistant Musselman looked pissed yesterday and at one point was sitting closer to the floor than the head coach

Trent was atrocious with recruiting. Thing about college sports is you can cover up ALOT of average coaching with great recruiting. Rare to get a great recruited and great x and o coach.

Yeah, we really need him to be what we all heard he was supposed to be for us, and for the first 3 games at least...he has not been close to that.

ODU had alot of experience and that showed, but what also showed and is concerning to me is the carry over of some of the same issues on our end.

Little guards were supposed to be the issue for us defensively. I think we are seeing that the issue was and is deeper.

Yep. That's why people are so down on Miles right now. I ain't worried about this team. Gray is a true point guard who can do it all. Mickey is ALL SEC, Martin is a little over rated right now but will shine by tourney time. They will probably still make the NCAA but every great team that LSU has ever had, has had at least one mean motherfricker to keep the other team in check. I don't see anyone on this team that has that fire to throw an elbow on the rebound to get a chump off of em.

I also think people are forgetting that this is the first road game of the year for these guys too. Time will tell.
