I was looking at the depth chart and noticed outside of Hitt, Black, and Barksdale the entire OL is either RHFR or FR. Why such a big discrepancy in middle class-men. Defense is similar to the O-line. I never paid too much attention to the linemen until recently as I ponder the biggest issues on this team. Anyone know why?

Something like 6 OL from the 2006 and 2007 recruiting classes were kicked off or transferred.

Luckily, I answered this same question before. You're thinking of '06, when we lost ALL of our OL signess. Why?

Phil Loadholt - never made it (didn't have right classes to play in SEC)
Steven Singleton - transferred
Zhamal Thomas - kicked off
Mark Snyder - career ending injury
Matt Allen - kicked off

All either never made it to LSU, transferred, were injured, or were kicked off the team.

We also lost Ernest McCoy and Jarvis Jones, both 4* OT's on Scout from 2007. Don't know what happened to McCoy, but Jones is Oklahoma's starting RT this year. Fortunately that year, we signed three of our current starters: Dworaczyk, Hebert, and Barksdale, who moved over from DT.

Basically, we lost 7 out of 10 O-linemen from the '06-'07 classes. It's killing our experienced depth right now.

In '08 we signed:
Greg Shaw
Alex Hurst
Thomas Parsons
Matt Branch
PJ Lonergan
Clay Spencer

In '09 we signed:
Josh Williford
Stavion Lowe
Carneal Ainsworth
Chris Faulk

Right now, we've got 4 O-linemen commited for the 2010 class, maybe looking to add one more. Ainsworth has left the team, but as you can see, Coach Miles has put a premium on recruiting a position where attrition was hurting us. A few of these guys in the last two classes are projects, and are a long way from playing significant minutes, so it will take some time before we can see the O-line be full of experienced and talented depth. We're just going to have to be patient.

In '05 we signed Ciron Black 4* OL (31st ranked) and Lyle HItt 4* DT (32nd ranked). They are both Sr's now, so next year we'll have:

Barksdale 5* DT (4th ranked)
Hebert 3* C (8th ranked)
Dworaczyk 3* OT (78th ranked)
Shaw 3* OT (42th ranked)
Hurst 3* OT (67th ranked)
Parsons 3* OT (36th ranked)
Branch 4* OT (22nd ranked)
Lonergan 3* OG (26th ranked)
Spencer 3* OT (57th ranked)
Williford 3* OT (77th ranked)
Lowe 4* OG (13th ranked)
Faulk 4* OT (21th ranked)

2010 OL Commitments:
Elliot Porter 3* DT (31st ranked) - will play OG, needs to be reevaluated
Evan Washington 4* OT (22nd ranked)
Cameron Fordham C 3*(14th ranked)
Jermarcus Hardrick 4* OT (JUCO)
