Do you want to go back in time and change things? I mean, I don't understand your soapbox on this issue.

LSU-E doesn't count when being referred to as a flagship university.

You spend a lot of time arguing the merits of a directional school

What are you arguing? That ULL should be the flagship?

I think he's mad that LSU is the flagship. Not sure what recourse he is pursuing.

Smalls...you know I don't get mad. I laugh at the flagship designation. The only thing that the designation attracts is professors that can make more money for themselves. It has no bearing on an education or for that matter the job a student gets hired for after graduation. Why pay more for the same piece of paper? That is the real joke being pulled over everyone's eyes.

You can argue until you are blue in the face, but in most fields a degree from LSU means more than a degree from ULL. Now, does it mean that much more to justify the difference in tuition costs, i don't know. How much does it cost to attend ULL? With TOPPS, I'm willing to bet the difference in cost of attending each school for an in state student is marginal.

We better not lose this shite or we will never hear the end of it. Like 100 years from now they will still be talking about in Cajun land. (Of course nobody will be able to fricking understand it as it will be usual mishmash of French Spanish English redneck and made up shite.)

The superiority complex is alive in this thread. ULL having "short-man syndrome" is a bit confusing without any of them instigating this.

If you are getting a degree in English, or sociology, or history I agree with you.

I'm not arguing. I pointing out that the 'flagship' designation being thrown around so profoundly as always has no bearing on the quality of an education nor the quality of a job. So, I would like for you to quantify just HOW a degree from LSU means 'more'.

It means more to an employer. I would venture to guess that employers think that certain degree programs from LSU are tougher and better prepare the student than the same degree programs at ULL. How am I supposed to quantify the beliefs of employers?

A degree from lsu in most every field will get you no better job than a degree from ull. Lsu acts like it is some great academic university. Funny how lsu is trying to pick on ull academics like most sec schools pick on lsu's academics. Unless you are going to one of the few prestigious colleges in this country you can get a better than average job with a degree from almost anywhere if you have good work ethics and common sense.
