the voters will look at it this way!

Pick one of the options:

I would like to watch BCS Championship game A, B, C, or D

A. LSU vs. team A ... LSU -2
B. LSU vs. team B ... LSU -15
C. LSU vs. team C ... LSU -20
D. LSU vs. team D ... LSU -22

I'll bet any amount you want that Stanford doesn't lose this week. I'll even give you 100:1 odds.

Florida lost to a 2 loss Auburn in 06 early-midseason. Oklahoma st lost to a 6-5 Iowa st late in the season... big difference.. If I may add,,, Michigan lost to Ohio st in late November 2006!

Florida in 2006 was a team that struggled past many of their opponents and was considered a massive underdog to tOSU

That was the rebuttal to your point spread argument. You seemed to be arguing that because LSU/Bama would be the closest spread that should be the BCS NCG matchup... when in recent history Michigan/OSU would have been teh closest point spread but Florida turned out to be the team winning a NC

Conventional wisdom and supposition about who the best teams are is what I am questioning and what should always be questioned. In 2005 we listened to several weeks of 2005 USC being ranked ahead of teams like 95 Nebraska by alleged experts... only to see them taken down by Texas

Stanford lost one week after the Bama/LSU game. Ok State lost two weeks after the Bama/LSU game

Which IMO is to say... about the same time as Bama. I'm not really in favor of arbitrary rankings based on when teams lose. I have always disliked teh human opinion polls for this type of ranking because I think it reveals an absence of real evaluation and a tendency of voters to just check the scores and records on Sunday instead of watching the games.

In general all the nonsense about teams being SO much better or worse than they were earlier in the year is hyberbole. Yes, improvement does take place if you have a good team that stays healthy but it doesn't generally change roughly how good you were compared to your competitors.

Just a week ago everyone from Arkansas was trying to convince LSU fans how much better and healthier they were than when they played Alabama. And sure they were on a bit of a hot streak having played well in their previous 5 games... but the LSU/Arky result looked really similar to the thrashing they received at Alabama a month or two earlier.

And all this sounds like a distracting argument from your point spread nonsense a post or two earlier (I say nonsense because it is not reliably true in bowl games)

BamaOne. So by your logic if VaTech wins they should go because they ost early in the year and Bama, OKieSt and Stanford lost in November?

A Bama rematch is bad for college football. No one except Bama fans want to see a rematch. By playing in a rematch you my pass Notre Dame as the most hated team in college football.

The majority of the country will be cheering for LSU to beat you 100-0 because you do not belong there and LSU cleary earned their place if they win Saturday (more than likely even if they lose most will still support LSU playing).

If LSU beats BAMA 9-6 again will you be yelling for us to play you best of 5 next year?

I am sorry, but that is one of the reason Alabama is ranked #2 right now. And I don't have to tell you,,, but when you lose,,, is as important as who you lose to... Which Bama wins both cases... Which is why we are #2 right now,, and why we will be playing y'all for the National Title.

Note: the last one will be the only one that matters!

if you are saying it matters to the voters? Yes I agree

if you are saying it should matter to the voters? I have already criticized that for being pretty silly

If the LSU/Bama game were two weeks later this year and the OkS/ISU game were Nov 5th? You'd probably see opinion poll rankings of something like:

1) LSU
2) OkS
3) Stanford
4) Bama

Which is silly. The results would have been the same, just in a different order

Well, then V-Tech should be ranked ahead of Bama then. They lost on Oct 1st. I'm just having friendly fun with ya Bama so don't go jump off a bridge.

And I agree, it is kind of a lame way for determining who is better. But, with 100+ teams and only a 12 or 13 game season,, how else! It has been this way for more than half a century. Long before the BCS!

Process of elimination, so to speak... If you are gonna lose,, lose early,,, the climb back up as others go down!

I said one of the reasons,,, not the only!

Vtech loss and their schedule, makes them look like Houston.. By losing in october is the only reason that they have made it to #3 and #4 in the human polls...
A: When is most important.
B: who beats you.
C: who you play.

Voters choose between a team that has beaten 3 teams with a winning record and no conference chanpionship or a team that has beaten 8 teams with winning records and will have a conference championship. Seems pretty clear to those without crimson glasses. We destroy Bama if they get their rematch.
