A lot of people here are having their usual emotional reactions but the truth is that Auburn is simply a better team. Auburn won this game in the trenches.

LSU may have more talent at skill positions, other than QB, but the Dline and Oline at Auburn were clearly too much. Dont get me wrong....I think that overall LSU has a better Dline talent-wise than Auburn . The difference was in how much worse our Oline is than theirs.

Chavis implemented a strategy to keep Newton in the middle of the field by putting mingo in at one of the DE spots. I get the strategy but Malzahn identified this and started running off-tackle to push our DEs back 5 yards on every play. It worked to perfection.

Tackling was horrid. This is something you wont see often from this group.

On offense:
Lee would have had more success if the WRs hadn't dropped so many passes. Two of his drives were killed by drops. Two of Jefferson's drives were also killed by drops. Two fumbled snaps by the QBs didnt help either.

The Oline is clearly not very good. They are avg at best. Not a lot of push from this group and they made Auburn Dline look better than they are.

WRs:
Disappointing play from Toliver. Most of the time receivers were open. They did a good job blocking on the perimeter as well.

I was mad at the end of the game but the more I thought about it the more I realized that AUburn should have won by three scores. Helton and Jasper kept LSU in the game for awhile but Auburn clearly dominated LSU in the trenches and is clearly the better TEAM.

People here bitching about Crowton and Miles have some legitimate reasons to gripe but the reality is that LSU's dline and oline were absolutely mandhandled, players were dropping passes and missing tackles...etc. Not much an OC can do when the opposing Dline is living in the backfield and open receivers are dropping passes.

Your attempt at being rational will only illicit more knee jerk reactions from the rantards. But I concur with most of your comments.

I somewhat agree, but then again, Lee was proving ineffective and we kept trying to turn back to him.

I know he's the better thrower, but if he's not getting time, it doesn't matter. JJ at least gave us the option of breaking the pocket and picking up yards on the ground (which he did repeatedly).

We also continued to throw from the pocket when the pocket was getting rocked. If the pocket doesn't exist, quit trying to use it. Rollouts, short drops, screens etc. Just didn't happen, really.

Insisting on giving Lee snaps yesterday was as stupid as insisting giving them to JJ at Mcneese, and Fl.

We really have no clue.

You're pretty much right. But, the most disappointing thing for me was the lack of defensive scheme or any adjustments. We tackled poorly as well, but time and time again we only had one defender near a position to make a play in the wide open field.... and they didn't make the play.

For instance (1 of perhaps 25), on the 70 yd td run - even if Newton would have kept the ball and gone off-tackle, even he is 20 yards into the secondary before even being touched, and he might have scored, too, the way things were going.

We might have tried something different with Mingo, but whatever we did, it didn't show. The only time I saw us make Newton commit was late in the game when K.Shep. finally tackled the back in the backfield and Newton ran for 7 yards around left end.

Sure, we were whipped, esp. our OL from 2nd Q on, and didn't deserve to win, and were lucky to be in the game late. However, I don't think it's a stretch to say our coaches deserve an F for that game preparation.
