Do y'all think there will be some spread plays for Harris, or is it Etling all the way? Going to be very interesting to see how the offense looks Saturday night, that's for sure! I think we finally see some imagination to the way the offense is run!

I think we are gonna see some spread looks too. We practice it, but it's finally gonna be implemented. Probably gonna be Danny going forward tho.

I'm going to temper my expectations on our QBs until we get a proven QB coach on the staff.

I don't think you will see much of a difference at all this weekend, as it would be tough to noticeably change an offense in just a few days.

Sequencing of the play calls can be improved immediately. More routes attacking the middle of the field can happen immediately.

I agree, Spank, I just have to believe there are plays that have been practiced that we have not seen. What do you think? He made reference to "spreading it out".

In the middle of the season, over the course of 5 days, without any change in player personnel, the offense is going to be completely changed?

Maybe you need to go back and read, Biggerbear. You are the only one who made reference to the offense being "completely changed". I don't expect it to be completely changed, I do, however, expect more imagination in the offense.

Nah but maybe use some of the plays that we practice but never use in the game. Or maybe attacking the defense weakness, taking what they give you, rather than just running what's on the schedule

Maybe. Harris would have to actually want to run with the ball like dual threat qbs do. If he did, I could see him getting playing time.

The offensive sets being used are serviceable and we've seen flashes of it working just fine, but the sequence of play calling has been terrible. You can do better with the same sets and personnel just by improving the play calling out of those sets. We have too many predictable play calls that teams key on constantly. If you line up with one wide receiver then it's pretty obvious that you're either going to throw it to him or run the ball due to our complete misuse of tight ends. The defense can then just double team the receiver and key on the run and that's pretty damn easy to do. The idea is to make the defense wonder what you're doing and running several looks out of the same formations is what makes that possible. You can't have predictable plays out of certain formations and expect to fool the defense very often.

Les Miles' offense will be seen this weekend. There will be no major changes and it is the offense we will see the rest of the year. Get ready for more power I football and toss dives.

T-Bob said last night that what we have seen the past few years is not the whole playbook and that there are plays that are practiced that we rarely see in game.

So yea. It can look very different. Will it? Who knows.

I love it when people state their opinion as fact.

Link?

You know this how?

It's ridiculous to expect the offense will be "completely different" come Saturday. However, it's not out of the question that the middle of the field will now become an area to attack; That the personnel in the game won't tell everyone what LSU is going to run (when #86, #10, or #11 are in the game, it's a run 98% of the time); or that a possession deep in the opponents territory won't consist of nothing more than runs up the middle and VERY conservative passing.

Coaches build different game plans every week. We have the plays in the playbook to run a more diverse offense.
