Getting dominated in the trenches on both sides of the ball is just so disappointing to watch.

Transfers on Oline and just in general being overrated.

Injuries on the Dline.

Transfers don't help.

And the 7 5 star tight end and wide receivers we sign every year without a qb to throw it to them. We should put more emphasis on the trenches when it comes to recruiting

Pour recruiting by O and Grimes. Pour development by both. Pour S&C by Moffitt (who needs a pink slip the same day as Grimes and O).

The culture of leaving early does not help. Last night we saw a team with 3/4/5th year players going against 1/2/3rd year players. That extra year of development is huge. Until players stay for their senior year expect this to happen from time to time.

Shitty d-line recruiting and a mass exodus of Olineman transferring.

I say yes. Last night most of the pressure came from the ends. Contrary to popular belief, we were running between the tackles fairly well, outside tackles too. Some nice manageable 3rd downs until we either found a way to make them un-manageable or decided that we're just going to take 3rd downs off. Yeah Simmons had a good game, made many tackles. But his goal was to be disruptive in the backfield. That he wan't able to do often.

For example, if you look at DW's TD run Clapp chipped and got to second level and kept a LB from sliding down the line. As DW is scoring you'll see him running towards the pylon not touching anyone, but that's because he was indeed able to get to the LB with the proper angle.

ETA: as a squad, they are not good. Unlike the skill positions a good OL can play badly simply because the others in the unit are failing. And it's not a perception or window dressing. Take the blocking above I used as an example. If Clapp goes to chip but G next to him doesn't do his job, he's not getting to the second level to block that LB. We do the same with our DL. They have to function as a unit. You can't have holes on the OL, you can't have inconsistency. It all falls apart with just one weak link because the D will exploit it.

We had 2 DT recruits total the 2 years before Orgeron was hired. 1 DT recruit never played a down.

The players we have now are almost all from the 2016 class.

As for OL only 2 of 5 players from the 2015 class on team.

Defensive line doesnt worry me as much as offensive line does. Louisiana is typically rich in talent with defensive lineman and thats Orgerons specialty. The defensive line will get better.

I'll try my best to stay optimistic about the offensive line. Losing Willie Allen hurt. We went out and got Deculus and Ingram. I think both will be great at LSU. But we need to find more on the recruiting trail.

The offensive philosophy doesn't help the OL very much.

I am going off memory, so I may be wrong. And it probably changed as the game progressed once they could pin their ears back.

And the couple times where Etling fled right due to Sweat just to have to retreat because the other end was free too might be biasing me.

What I did fail to notice is what help they were using for Clapp.

The last group of DL we had that were LSU worthy was the Benny Logan and Michael Brockers classes. Not exactly sure why the drop off after that, but would love to know. Probably had to do with Chavis' recruiting.
