re: Numbers aside, how would you rank LSU's pitching staff entering season's end?

I just said Ell and Josh's opinions are more valid than anyone elses. I never included myself. If you have watched LSU baseball this year you know austin bain is one of the worst pitchers on the team, him at 4 is a freaking joke. So the person is fishing or hasnt watched baseball since Austin pitched LAST YEAR in the SEC Tourney, when was the last time he was actually a decent baseball player. Thats like saying Trey Dawson is the 4th best batter on the team because "you have a feeling". give me a break and stop with the SJW BS.

McKay last ell? It's not like he got pulled from his first Alaskan league start after 2 innings because he gave up 7 earned runs or anything.
Oh wait, that actually did happen.

2 swings and misses. I'm at work (I wish I were fishing) and I've seen every game this year in some form or fashion.

Bain has been far worse than Reynolds, couldn't hit the broadside of a bull in his first 9 outings
This year:
Austin Bain 28 IP, 31 SO
Russell Reynolds 35 IP, 23 SO
...and that's strike 3, sorry you're OUT!

I bet you were one of the guys in the aaron nola thread saying giving up hits is a bigger deal than earned runs. gtf outta here. You can cherry pick stats all you want. Bottom line, Austin Bain hasnt been good since last year. There are multiple people in this thread that have said youre an idiot along with me, so im not some crazy outlyer.

Your boy got 8 innings this year, bud. He's still one of the worst pitchers on the team, hence the reason he didnt travel to most games or the SECT. Cant make much of a judgement on 8 innings worth of stats.

Why would we put the numbers aside? They do have to be used in context but they are stats that help to figure out these things.
And btw - Bain sucks this year.

Exactly how many alters do you have '77?

I have faith in Newman, Lange, and Poche right now.Having said that Lange and Poche are having their worse year overall of the combined three years they have been a Tiger. I will give them credit for looking good for 5 plus weeks and the record reflects that.
The rest of them are a total crap shoot. Even though Valek was performance wise LSU best pitcher for the first half of the season, he had two bad starts and PM announced the "book was out on him" and we haven't seen much from him since. He doesn't have "good stuff",but he actually is the type pitcher that gives LSU's hitters fits. Remember at the start, PM had Smith and Bain battling for the 3rd starter, but they were both nicked and Valek came in and did a good job.
