SEE, you can't stop comparing yourselves to UT! Funny that you said "T.U." instead of "UT", another sign of feelings of inadequacy methinks.

There's not much inadequate about A&M these days ... lots to be proud of.

We say t.u. because UT is University of Tennessee. "University of Texas" implies they represent all of Texas, whereas that school more closely represents California than the majority of the state. A&M has been around since 1876 while t.u. has been open since 1883, so they weren't even the 1st public institution of higher learning in the state. Their hook 'em horns hand sign was contrived by one of their male cheerleaders in response to the popularity of the Gig 'Em hand sign. Their fight song was written after ours and references us. They used to copy our Bonfire tradition as well. But none of it sticks, 'cause they lack dedication and loyalty. Need proof? Look at all their empty seats when their team isn't winning. They are weak and fairweather and they don't represent the values of Texas. :)

If they're coming to a Tiger's house to watch, they must be pretty chill ...

There's just no way in Hell I'd watch an important football game with opposing fans. I like to watch the coverages, blocking schemes, run fits, etc. and get pissed with inane conversation and smack talk.

"Texas Fight, Texas Fight, and It's Goodbye to A&M" -- look it up, you are wrong.

I'm going to have complete control of the remote, and I'll pause the game and tell someone to shut their piehole in a heart beat!

Seriously, LSU vs ATM is a really good matchup, with some rivalry history to it. Both teams have been unpredictable and anything could happen. I'd much rather this than two teams who can't even find each other on a map playing in some neutral ground location in the middle of the country.

I know, I know, but they're actually good people when isolated from their cult. It's when you get more than two of them together that their eyes glaze over and they start marching lock step, doing stupid hand signals, saying gibberish like "Gig'em" "Whoop" and "Saw 'em off".

This had me cracking up at work. I had to join for the sole purpose of saying how very true that is. I LOVED my time at A&M, but I'd probably qualify as a two-percenter (someone who doesn't fully embrace every single A&M tradition, no matter how ridiculous) in the eyes of some Aggies. I'm not the typical Aggie: long, blonde surfer hair, came from out of state, moved to California after I graduated, etc. BUT, if you put me in a room with a half dozen Aggies, I'll start saying nonsensical things like hullabaloo and gig 'em. I can't help it dammit!

Being an Aggie is like being a Christian: 95% of them are normal, cool, intelligent, great people, but the extremists (the Corps comes to mind) are the ones that get the most attention and TV time, so they give the whole organization a bad name. So I guess football games are our version of Church, the yell leaders the pastor; the weirdos get to rule the roost Still love it though.

Hey man, be a good sport, it's only a game. But if the Aggies win, don't be shy about firebombing their cars when they leave your place.

1) Don't be "projecting" -- it may turn out to be a lot of fun.

2) If all else fails, do what my sister-in-law did to an obnoxious Florida fan in her house when she was living in Florida. She warned him about trash-talking once, the second time he did it she took his plate and put it on the floor for the dog to eat.

It sounds like things may get out of hand with the A&M diehards and you will have to throw gumbo on them. Better make sure it's hot....

First off, I'm a former Corps member too, and let's just say you can't paint all of us with the same brush. Yeah, some will stick out and give the University a bad name, but so will many non-Corps members. Just a byproduct of being one of the largest universities in the nation.

Lots of misconceptions are out there concerning the A&M-Texas rivalry, but regardless of whether you hate burnt orange or maroon, there's much evidence to the fact that the hate is a two-way street.

First of all, Texas A&M's alma mater is "The Spirit of Aggieland," which does not reference Texas at all. The Aggie War Hymn (our fight song) is the one that references Texas in it's SECOND verse (the first verse is completely A&M related. Aggies chose to sing the second verse twice not because we're obsessed with Texas, but because the lyrics to the first song were too "ivy league-ish" for Aggies (and before you lambast Aggie weirdness for so choosing, note that Texas scrapped it's original version of "The Eyes of Texas" for much the same reason).

As far as Texas goes, their fight song "Texas Fight" owes its very existence to Texas A&M (and not just for the "goodbye to A&M line"). The man who composed the song wrote it specifically to combat the popular Aggie fight song of the time period ("Farmers Fight"). Link is provided below the post.

I understand that debates about our respective colleges will be highly charged with emotion--just trying to bring some balance to the discussion. The A&M-Texas rivalry is hardly one-sided.

This is a pretty accurate representation of Horn fans from my personal experience. I think you have put into words what I have always instinctually known about Texas fans.

If one of them gets too rowdy, tell him to "look at the dead bird!"

When he looks up in the sky, kick him in the nads.
