Notes from watching TV Replay of Pitt

Vtech
Clemson
I just watched every single offensive play in those 2 games and here are some of the things I've noticed.
1) Uses a ton of motion pre-snap, he primarily uses #10,
Quadree Henderson for this role, if we run the same plays I think Chark will play this role for us really well.
2) He is very good at making each play look the same to the defense, in which he runs like 4 to 5 different plays off of. Chip Kelly talked about this in this interview Chip Interview
3) He uses an H-Back/TE player pretty heavily, not sure who on LSU's current roster would fill that role the best, but he likes to use them for the shovel pass a good bit.
I like how much of his offense is simple football that forces the defense to be honest with the multiple options. I felt like the QB in those 2 games really sucked, especially in the 4th Qtr against Clemson, and he was able to still put it together with the play calls.
Regardless I think his offense is probably the easiest transition for our current personnel and that he will do well at LSU!

HBack/Tend could be Mouton, Washington, Moreau, Ducre?

Did you "watch film" or just re-watch the tv production?

The only question I care about is how many receivers will he put on the field at one time vs Bama.

H-Back needs to be Ducre man. I think Mouton really came here as an H though so he's athletic enough to do all of that. Really nice role for him.

Does he run any 4 receiver sets
Posted on 12/14/16 at 9:14 am to Brunedog
Actually, I saw a five receiver set.

Were you able to stop the film, back it up, and reply it 47 times while analyzing?

Darrel Williams and David Ducre come to mind.
Jacory Washington probably too tall for this role and should be a playmaker from the TE spot. I'd think that we could see some of JW lined up in the slot. Exciting time to be an LSU TE and I look forward to Canada and Ensminger coaching those boys up as we'll need them big time going forward.

Yes he does run 4 WR sets occasionally, but he primarily runs 11 personnel(1 RB, 1TE, 3WR) and 12 personnel (1RB, 2TE,2WR).
You can see here where he spreads it out in the red zone vs VTech

Good analysis. Maybe we can score more than 0 points against Bama next season.

I concur.
Let Guice, Brossette, Akers? be the main RB and Darrel be the H-back/FB/TE is those sets. Darrel would be killer catching the inside shuffle passes.
Assuming the play is used routinely like at Pitt.
Canada has used had varying offenses at different places. Will be exciting to see what his LSU version looks like.

I haven't had a chance to watch any myself yet, but a question I have is whether his offense stays the same for the different teams he coaches for, or does he make adjustments according to the players on the field?

Here's a hint. He likes the ball in the hands of the bigger slower guys a lot more than the fast quick guys down the field. It pains me to have to watch this guy a second time at a school I pull for. I hate to be that guy on this board but yes start thinking of who will be the hback/TE guys because they are gonna get the ball a ton and the WR's will be blocking for them instead of the other way around. Watched it 3years at NC State and this year at Pitt. Go watch the 4th Quarter of the UNC game when all they needed was a first down. Canada will do fine against most of the schedule. He wont ever beat Nick Saban though, with this dink dunk scheme unless Aranda can pitch a shutout.

So looking back at some rosters, as a QB coach and OC, he has one QB that is made it to the NFL?
Jacoby Brissett
As an offensive coordinator (Albeit with no research about the defense of the team he coached for) his teams have the following records:
Overall Record of 80-69
Record as the OC of a P5 Team 53-60
Record against P5 Teams 26-60*
*Beat #21 Alabama in Tuscaloosa in 2003 with the Northern Illinois Huskies, final score 19-16.

Anyone else notice the Clemson mascot flipping the bird to the Pitt player that scored at the 30 second mark?
