We have not recruited talent from real HS passing offenses in I don't know how many years. Oh, we have a bunch of athletes that can play any position on the field but our O line is not proficient and skilled at pass blocking, our receivers are not proficient in running sharp routes and then improvising when the quarterback has to leave the pocket, and our present starting quarterback is not consistently accurate in the pocket or on the move. We have not recruited talent from pass heavy HS offenses in years, in years!.. it is extremely difficult to all of a sudden ask offenseive line men that have not pass blocked their entire football life, relatively speaking, to become a very good pass blocker overnight. It is very difficult to break receivers of bad habits they developed in high school from whenever their quarterback would break the pocket he ran the ball so therefore the receivers stop their routes or started blocking down field. The passing game is a totally different mindset from a run heavy offense mindset. Until we develop and recruit to build a complete passing offense at LSU what we saw last Saturday night is what we will get. I don't care who the coaches are...

But this still doesn't explain being one of the most penalized teams in the country and looking completely outclassed on the coaching front . Save me the youth excuse too because I don't buy that one anymore for today's college football. Plenty of freshmen play every year all over the country.

I guess we see the importance of having a 3 year center to help with the calls on the field. I really don't like the direction the offense is headed. I strongly dislike gimmicky offenses, but that seems the direction everyone is heading.

You make a very good point and THAT solely falls on the coaching. I have seen well coached Little League teams not get penalized as much as we have already this season... The coaches have to instill discipline and there has to be consequences when a player commits a penalty.
