Because this was Florida's number one available pitcher.

Pitch Poche and Lange against their rags and you have a better chance overall. Pitch Poche tonight on short rest and he loses then we're fricked. You have to look big picture in a series

Well, their starter was dynamite tonight. Even if Poche pitched well, LSU still might have lost. Then you'd be going into game 2 down 1 with a guy who hadn't started in 2 years trying to prolong your season.

Because throwing him against Singer with a good chance to lose and then needing Wholestaff to win game two is stupid. Tomorrow the roles are reversed and then it's our ace against their #3 guy.
