Hes fricking awful! Cant wait until we get another voice. I really dont understand how people actually enjoy listening to him. He makes alot of mistakes and is really really negative as the OP stated.

C'mon, Gray. The man misidentifies players on his own team quite often. He has to be corrected by Moreau several times a game.

The last game I listened to was this year's Bama game. I was traveling to Birmingham with two other guys, and at first we couldn't find the LSU broadcast on Sirius, so we listened to Bama's broadcast with Eli Gold.

Finally found JH and DM. Sorry, but there is no comparison, and even my traveling companions pointed it out.

I greatly appreciate that Hawthorne bleeds Purple and Gold and truly loves LSU, but we as fans deserve better.

I travel a lot and have listened to many other broadcasters. Hawthorne is the BEST. Its like going on a long trip with somone, after awhile they start to irritate you. With overexposure you start to see flaws, it would be the same with Gruden, Michaels or any of the other popular announcers if you had them allyear for all sports you wouldn't enjoy them as much.

Sorry Lee but you are wrong on this one.
" imperfect profession". Do even the great ones make mistake- sure. But the frequency of mistakes and the lack of JH's ability to describe the game to the listener so that you feel like they are there is appalling. When I listen and watch the game at the same time, it sometimes appears to be two separate events. I tolerate JH because I want the color commentary and sideline reports that gives me more than D Borne is allowed to give.
No one, not even Supreme Court Justices should be able to keep their job
