He is going to be a great player, but right now he has drank to much of the cool aid.

I agree you can do it in practice as well, but it's pretty clear JJ isn't doing that or at least it's not working.

I'm not a fan of the one and done excuse, Cal, K and others seem to find ways to get through to one and done kids. Cal and Cousins used to go at it, and Cousins is a better player today for having a coach hold him accountable, even when he was generally the best player on the court even at half speed.

Its nobody's fault but your own that you pre-determined what you thought you should see from BS.

I think the players know JJ can't really do anything about it and play how they want to play.

I don't know how some tiger fans couldn't see this when he was hired. Every year it's the same story which is why I didn't get any hopes up for this season. But but next year is our year! Yeah, right. Not with JJ as your coach. Good thing I didn't get excited so I'm not setup for disappointment. Oh well, bye basketball and hello baseball.

Wait, I have to ask....are you implying that Coach K could not get more out of Simmons than Jones?

And knowing how to utilize a star athlete to win games/championships is not something anyone can do. Look how many NBA superstars don't have rings.

I really don't believe BS would have the great stats he has now if he went to play for UK, Duke, Kansas, UNC etc
He would likely have much better stats. He would probably be in an offense that has design and efficiency, supported by talent that is well coached in the purpose and execution of that offense, and that would result in him having many more opportunities for success. Not to mention the superior instruction in how to improve his own skills and working his abilities into the offense more effectively. And ditto on all that for the defensive side, too.

In basketball, being "the Man" on a bad or mediocre team is not going to get you the stats that being "the Man" on a good or great team is. And Simmons has the ability to be "the Man" on much, much better teams than we have.

What if he had benched BS more and we lost a few more games do you think that takes the pressure off his job security?
The difference is that Coach K or Cal or any of the really good coaches would be able to get much better results out of Simmons without having to bench him. It's simply coaching. You come up with better systems, you teach that system better, and you call the games in ways that put your players in the best situation for success.

I love BS but I think I would rather get the players that will be here for 3-4 years so we can build the program.
We have players here 3-4 years. This season, we have Hornsby, Quarterman and Malone, at least, who have been here 3 years. There is no reason to suggest an either/or. We can (and do) have seasoned veterans as well as young superstars on our teams regularly, as do many other highly successful teams (Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, UNC come to mind, among others). To suggest that we would somehow be better off not having the most talented players we recruited is nonsense.

Nice response you little child. Now go away and troll somewhere else. You know I'm right and that's why your response is nothing but emojis. Because you're mentally crippled

Bull shite!

Simmons is the one on the court and if he is all this and all that, it's past the time he needs to take this team over. Does Jones deserve to be questioned after the last game, hell yeah, but so does Simmons.

You're mindless, robotic attitude is what will keep LSU behind the Bama's and Duke's of the sporting world. Loyal to a fault.
As long as the coaches are "nice guys" and win at an marginally acceptable rate....we have to keep them lest we hurt their feelings. Never mind the fact that the may not be able to coach a lick during games...as long they recruit and dont fondle young boys in our shower rooms, all is well.
Sometimes.....sometimes you just have to step out in faith and take a chance on a young, talented coach who has shown the necessary skills to win and who definitely knows X's and O's. Until we do this......well you've seen the results.....#alsoran.

Nothing posted on this board will keep LSU behind anyone nor will it aid LSU in jumping anyone, Captain Clueless.

You have to be a retard if you think Duke is a more highly regarded in the sports world than LSU.

I was referring to the two schools being well established and ultra successful in football and basketball....a thought that obviously sailed over your thick head.

Its sad. Simmons should have went somewhere else. If Lsu dont make the tournament it will look very bad for JJ. I've neber seen a star player who is so LIMITED in key areas. He's a Great passer but cant shoot a jumper to save his life. No defense.

Sounds like you are describing an overrated player. Not his fault. He is just a kid, he will mature and develop into a great asset in due time.
