DL will be fine and I expect it to be better than last year - Bain, Gilmore, Herron, Bower will all hit the field. Beckwith can also be that rush LB and can line up as DE during game too. Remember when Brockers came out of nowhere, expect the same thing from Bain. They probably should have pulled the redshirt on Bain this year because he will be gone after RS So year.

Assuming we don't lose several to injuries, DL will be fine next year regardless of whether we sign anyone else this year. That being said, I'd really like to get Valentine and Speaks and a surprise 4* DE like last year.

We have depth but we don't have experience. Whomever we put in after the two who played will have no experience.

if we happen to miss out on some of these DL recruits and are left with young and inexperienced DL, do we think about moving one of our OL to the DL?

We have a lot of large backup OL, could it work?

There are no desperate times. We have 7 DTs and one verbaled for a total of eight. We should finish with at least one more if not two.

Why in the hell would you move backup OL to back up DL? I can't believe this doesn't have over 9000 downvotes.

Herron is like 270-280, Chavis doesn't play em that big on the outside.

Depth isn't the problem. Experience is the problem.

The only one I can see playing DL is fanaika and I don't think he'd beat out the guys we have. Turrible idea. You should feel ashamed.

Did Herron redshirt this year due to his injury?

Take the glasses off. we have problems at DT. not a single LSU DT will even sniff 3rd team all SEC. really sad considering the DTs LSU has had over the past 10 years.

I would say look out for Bain and Herron...Lacouture will be very good....as for Herron....really all of those guys....I wish they would have taken off the redshirt though, your going to lose them in two years anway, may as well play a little the first year...

Lacouture will be very good because he wants it, that is how he got on the field this year. the past summer he would be in the football ops by himself working on moves and technique.

Wouldn't we be left with young and inexperienced DL even if we get the recruits? seeing as they have never played?

How many other star DL around the SEC are returning? I know a lot of teams lose their starting QB, are we the only team with this DL problem?

If we recruit well & have faith in our coaches then we shouldn't be worried. We've turned 3* into great players with just 2 years of playing experience.

No P&G glasses. Just saying, we've done it before, and the guys we have now were pretty highly touted coming out of HS.

One more thing, what about Bower? Think I hear about him the least of all the young DL.

You know this based on what? We lack experience, not depth and experience, not talent. My impression is that the back seven will be better. Robinson and White have PT under their belts and have shown signs of being very good. Mills will probably drop to safety and be better than he was at CB. Adams may come in and start immediately if he's as good as advertised. At LB Kwon is healthy and improving. Garrette comes in as big as any LB we currently have and could push to start. Welter if he starts at least should play better.

At DE we return Rasco, Hunter and Beckwith will either push for PT or help at LB.

The point is that the rest of the unit by all indications will be better and when they maintain better coverage, protect the edge and fill the gaps, it makes the DTs job easier and gives them the potential to be more productive.

bzzt.

We have talent, but they are young. And rarely does a guy should up from high school ready to step into the trenches in the SEC and make a real impact.

Freak didn't redshirt, and had that ability his first season, but he never seemed to take it to the next level.

Brockers did redshirt (onoz!) and wound up developing into a complete stud. I think he was our MVP in several games in 2011.

QT and Lacouture will be very solid this year, imo.

Herron, Bain, and the rest of the gang have potential. They just needed to, as Moffitt said, get their bodies SEC-ready.

With all the good players leaving after 3 years, their second year is all most as good as it gets. I don't think experience is the problem, I think "who is going to step up' is the question. I look for one or two of these 3 to make that step up: FH, GG, or MB.
