He had his bell rung quite a few times last year, and still came back confident in the pocket. I'm pretty sure they already know what they have in Etling when it comes to getting hit.

Most college QB's are off limits from contact
I think O indicated the dual threat QB's might do some live but why would you want your QB exposed during fall camp especially with different linemen running in and out, all it takes is one freshman OT to blow an assignment to knock your QB out for the year.

He's the starter. It never was a QB battle to begin with, so you might as well keep him clean until the season starts.

Etling of all people has proven he can take a hit. No reason to subject him to possible injury.
