So that was in a loss to Bama? Anyone know what year? What the score was? Is the 69 points in reference to how many Pete scored?

1969-1970 at Alabama. Pete scored an SEC record 69,but a bad Alabama team won in overtime, 106-104.

A bit more trivia on what happened prior to the famous double-bird after the 1970 LSU at Alabama game...

quote:
I didn't expect everyone to like me; I wasn't that naïve. But it got to me a bit when spectators deliberately showed up to heckle my family. That was my boiling point, and it was most obvious one night when we played at Alabama. I had twenty-two points in the first half, but the game was marred by a fight and the ejection of my teammate, Danny Hester...When Dad and I were both slapped with technical fouls, the place erupted with cheers and jeers...However, the heckling had a reverse effect on me; the more I heard, the more intensely I played...
The frustration of the loss was devastating to us. To add insult to injury, as I walked off the court one heckler in particular didn't have the wisdom to stop. In a flash I was after him, wanting to tear him apart. My teammates followed, and threw some punches of their own.
