Of the squandered offensive talent.....

except today wasn't the normal guys, i.e. Hill, Beckham, Landry

Today

Russell Shepard TD catch
Spencer Ware 11 carries, 96 yards 2 TD's
Alfred Blue had a 21 yard TD reception

These guys were on some of the worst offenses in LSU history....

If it wasn't for Les moving Shep to WR he wouldn't be in the NFL right now. Les knew what he was doing

According to everyone involved it wasn't Miles idea. Shep walked in office and asked to be moved

Weren't those guys a part of our only undefeated regular season since 1958?

That he is still in the NFL and actually producing on the field shows that he most certainly could have been utilized more in our offense.

today, they haven't been doing that for most of their careers in the NFL

plus we've never had a problem running the ball.

if Jordan Jefferson goes off in the NFL give me a call.

Also on one of the best in LSU history.

Ware got his carries, blue was hurt his last 2 seasons. Russel scored more tds at LSU than he has in the league.

So again, what the frick are you talking about?

02 and 04 were worse offensively than any offense those guys played on.

He has 1 freaking TD. He's played special teams. Looks like the only reason he's in the NFL is he learned to play other positions at LSU.

Same thing with James Wright. Dude had like 3 catches and everyone blames Les again for squandering talent. 3 freaking catches, he was way more productive as a wr at LSU. I even remember saying at this rate he won't surpass his 21 receptions he had at LSU in 4 years. He never even came close.

Exactly. QB play has been the issue. Even Mett at times.

Shepard has 2 catches for 10 yards this year and you say Les misused his talent?

Honestly, the fact that Russell Shepard is playing well for the Bucs speaks volumes. His time at LSU was not what it could have been.

ETA: playing at all for an NFL team, not playing well

2002 was horrible after Mauck went down. 2004 was horrible after Mauck left early and Saban had no decent backup plan. I haven't checked the stats but I think 2002 was worse. 2014 is right up there and 2009 isn't far behind.

I see it already. When the new coaches loses, it will be blamed on Miles.

He had 3 catches this season before today's game. He had 5 catches combined the last 2 years.

He has played a lot of special teams.

Shepard wasn't used more at LSU because we had guys like Ridley, Ware, Ford, Blue, Hilliard, Hill, Randle, Toliver, Beckham, Landry who were better than him.

Despite examples from the rest of the SEC (Dexter McCluster, Derek Abney, for example), Les Miles had no idea how to or no desire to utilize Russell Shepard.

It seemed that Russell took it to the house about every three times he touched it, but that wasn't good enough for Les. Instead, our brilliant head coach preferred to slow down the game, limiting the number of times our talented players were called upon to make a play.

I can't wait until Miles leaves.

Yeah but aren't there like 7 offensive NFL players from our 9-3 team from a couple of years ago? Collins, mett, ford, blue, Landry, obj, hill....
