I really hoped to see great things out of Rye this season. For some reason, he underperformed when given the handful of opportunities on the hill. I hope he gets some great exposure under his belt this summer playing ball somewhere and brings great things back to campus with him.

Did more than one of our pitchers get assigned to summer ball yet? If so, where?

I think those 3 guys at the bottom of the list will probably be processed?

Ripoll is pitching for the Cane Cutters (Laffy) in the Texas Collegiate League. Fabacher Field is a 2 min drive as I’ll go watch his starts and report back

For some reason I was under the impression that George was a senior. Glad to see I’m wrong I think that kid can do some great things for us

As previously mentioned Ripoll is playing in Lafayette. Riggs Threadgill is supposed to be playing with Braden and Care doughty in the cal ripken league. Ray Torres isn't listed on their roster anymore.
Incoming lhp Brandon kaminer is pitching in the south Florida league. His league has started but he hasn't pitched yet.

Has Storz had an opportunity to hit in batting practice since he came to LSU?
Did his injury prevent him from swinging a bat? In HS he had a reputation of being a power hitter. Is that a possibility if he doesn't regain his pitching ability?

Thanks for the info, Project. I like to keep up with our players during summer ball.

During the first 5 fall scrimmages of 2017, Storz had 7 plate appearances. He went 0-5 with 4 K's and 2 BB's and a 6-3 groundout. These were his only plate appearances of his LSU career, to date, that I am aware of.

I think Threadgill and Gunter have potential. I think Costello is too uptight on the mound. Every pitch seems like he is performing open heart surgery.

Did he pitch at all in the fall that year?

We said something similar to this after last season. I don't feel too optimistic.

No, he has acted as bullpen protector since the AB's in fall.

Henry/Hill/Marceaux/Walker would be the strongest 4 man rotation Mainieri's ever had at LSU.
But until Henry and Hill take the mound in February I won't believe that they'll be healthy so hopefully we find someone to go after Marceaux and Walker.
But if it happens LSU will win a lot of games with Henry, Hill, and Marceaux on the weekends and Walker on the weekdays. Hopefully LSU has that strong veteran leadership on the mound during the week next season. They really need to get back to where they were several years back when LSU didn't lose a midweek game for nearly 2 seasons.

Definitely lots of arms & lots of unknowns with whether the injuries from this year linger into next year.
Wishful thinking that Hess just might come back to improve his draft stock?

I have the same question on Chase Costello. Wasn't he a SS in HS. He would have to be a better hitter than HH if he can field ground balls

I think Walker will have a big year
if he can return to full pre-TJ form... I think he'll definitely be in the weekend rotation
I just figured he was only about 85% or 90% back to form this season and next season he would be back to 100%

I've never seen Costello take batting practice, much less an AB. But, I do recall Mainieri saying he didn't want to make the same mistake he made with Austin Bain again or something similar.
