The last time I felt nearly this good was before the 07 season and even then QB was a big question that was eventually answered early that season. People like to talk about 2011 but that team had lost PP7 and we still had JJ/JL.

The lowered expectations, all the players coming back plus infusion of more talent on defense is a setup for the perfect storm. I think we'll embarrass some teams on our schedule.

End of pump.

I'm worried about the defense. We're going to need a lot of young guys to step up.

I wish we were a little deeper. Should be fine as long as they stay healthy

Wouldn't go that far, but I agree. I do feel good about this team. UTR. Has to be one of the most talented groups to ever start the season ranked outside of the Top 10.

Michael Brockers, Honey Badger, and Morris Claiborne plus the other studs like Reid, Minter, and Simon were off the media radar before that season. I don't think most of our fanbase really knew how good our defense was in 2011 until they took the field. Realistically speaking, there is talent, but boy some new faces will need to prove it to us like what happened in 2011. A defense like 2011 normally wins the national title if there isn't another one just as good that year.

I don't understand why anyone would worry about our defense. Sure, we lost some good players. But we've lost some good players before. And every time, our defense comes right back.

LSU turns in NFL stars on a regular basis and they are all unknown until they play.

I think the depth is there with talent its just young and not tested.

I have a great feeling about this year just hope these young guys are ready to play

Our DE situation scares, so I think we'll have to find creative ways to get pressure on QBs like Murray, AJ, Manziel, and even Pachall.

I like our athletic LBs and I think Eugene as a blitzer like TM are good options, but until we see it on the field that's my one real concern. We play too many good QBs to not be able to pass rush. They'll eat us alive

As long as Dural or Leslie can provide the deep threat we missed last year, offense will roll. Very excited to see it.

Kicker is the other huge concern. Neither have attempted a kick in college. I don't like that one bit. FGs are crucial, and we'll need them to make a big kick at some point.

Gonna be a very fun season to watch though

Defense in the middle was the question going in, and it seems like Freak, and Ego are going to be solid. The only real question on defense is really depth, and who's going to play MLB. I really think you see a D as good as last year, and an Offense that's better. That's scary for everyone else..

There are plenty of questions to be answered and I'm not even sure the team will look invincible but the platform is a good one. No hangover of an NC defeat, no expectations and a great deal of disrespect both from the media and to some extent the SEC office. Chemistry often comes from a united cause, and this team has one.

What the LSU defense has been asked to do the last few years is beyond unreasonable. The offense may finally be serviceable and the defense does not have to be lights out to support it. But knowing our history on D, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they are yet another elite defense.
