Back to some of the seeding stuff...again, why did Georgia get a host site? Looking at the latest RPI, they are in at 19. Everyone in the top 16 is hosting except for Baylor. They seem to have been screwed, and I'm sure Oregon is none too happy to seem them in their region. Is Baylor's facility not up to hosting standards these days or what?

Baylor has a beautiful ballpark, so that isn't the issue. Georgia hosting is by far the most controversial thing that happened on Selection Sunday. Why did they get to host? I will put it to you this way....remember back when some caller to the Les Miles show once told him that he took the nudes that Jordan Jefferson was using to blackmail him for playing time? Well Georgia's coach, Lu Harris-Champer, has similar nudes of someone on the committee and she has been using them for several years now as her team is ALWAYS over-seeded. No real explanation...they just always get a little extra bump in seed.

Maybe the committee weighed some criteria other than RPI when it came to UGA and Baylor. UGA is ranked higher in the polls than is Baylor. Still pretty crazy.

The committee mainly uses RPI and rankings are not involved.

The problem is that there is no accountability from the committee. At least for events like the men's basketball tournament, the chair of the committee gets on TV and explains things and answers questions. We don't get that for softball.

I don't doubt that RPI is the main criteria, considering the top 15/16 are host sites. But those host sites are not direct carbon copies of the RPI.
UGA is 19th in the RPI, but ranked 15th (Coaches Poll). Baylor is 13th in RPI, but ranked 21st in the poll. So there's that conundrum, and also how Kentucky got the boost from 16 RPI and 13 in the pool to be the 9 seed.

Just curious as to how their process works. It's probably a team to team basis or a year to year thing like for the baseball tourney.
