SP Preston Morrison
quote:

“Morrison has good stuff, and he loves to stay away on the outside part of the zone,” Riley said. “His fastball stays around 86-88 mph, and his favorite pitch is his slider with an occasional changeup.”

SP Tyler Alexander
quote:

“One thing Alexander does is throw around the plate. He will throw strikes.” Riley said. Alexander has walked just nine batters in 91 1/3 innings all season.

CP Riley Ferrell
quote:

In two games against the Wolfpack, Ferrell had a blown save and allowed six runs (five earned) in 1 1/3 innings. Before the NCAA Tournament, he had only given up four earned runs the entire year.

quote:

“Sit fastball,” advises Riley. His fastball sits around 96-98 miles per hour, and Ferrell throws a wipeout slider 86-88. But he is far less likely to throw the offspeed pitch for a strike. As the Wolfpack showed in their three games, the best chance to beat Ferrell is hitting his fastball.

On TCU Offense
quote:

As for TCU at the plate, Riley doesn’t think it will pose that much of a problem for LSU.

quote:

“A lot of their hitters were slap hitters,” Riley said. “The only person who could really drive the ball was [Evan] Skoug.”

Canizzaro was on the radio in Baton Rouge this morning saying they throw fastballs about 90-94 as a staff and are big strong Texas boys that throw heat.

He also made a blunt assessment of their hitting (and I'm paraphrasing here), "They're honestly not very good."

It's funny. Person and Ferrell are going to be teammates in a month.

Not even close to a paraphrase. He didn't come across as insulting at all. He stated that the majority of TCU's scholarship money was allocated towards pitching and defense. Their position players are average hitters but can make all the plays defensively
