National media are very hypocritical when it comes to firing coaches...

and everyone seems a little pollyanna-ish over this whole thing. When you bring in coin in the neighborhood of $5M, you have to continually produce. I think Les is a phenomenal person, and a great recruiter, and one of the better coaches (when you consider the whole package) not named Meyer or Saban, but fact is performance in the last four seasons has been not up to the level that his pay grade demands. I'm sure it sucks on a personal level to be fired, but LM and his family should be set for life, and he will receive a buyout that will likely exceed what many will never ever see in a life's work. This should help to ease any pain.
I pay a lot of money to the athletic dept and TAF, and this pales in comparison to what some do, and I have come to expect results on par with 2011. Now a coaching change is certainly not without significant risk, and if this isn't handled right, we could be Texas or Miami or Nebraska or Michigan (pre-Harbaugh) or Alabama (DeBose to Shula) and the list goes on. But, I think a move to say Fisher, would be an upgrade, but its dangerous whatever #1 big fish says no, and it becomes public, then turndowns can be contagious. I've been a LM supporter, but I'm ready for the right change, and it seems that now the die has been cast.

SO, if we do not get one of those two to coach, then by your unconscious standards, we fail?

they are such hypocrites

I've been thinking the same thing. The rail on miles week after week and year after year but when LSU decides to move on with a 4th year of declining results then LSU fans and leadership are ruthless ignorant idiots. Typical. And I am and have been a pro Miles guy.

Agreed they think everyone should vote for crazy liberal Democrats, and you're sports program should keep their sucky coaches unless your name is Alabama, or Southern California. Most media are morons!!!

What if your name is Sumlin? They lost 5 last year, and have lost 3 this year, and he's paid more than Miles.
I'm not saying it's right.. I just find it interesting..
Winning a NC seems like a bad move for 90 percent of coaches.

National media have simply played off the vibe the LSU fanbase has given them. Everyone's always been a little hesitant about Miles, very insecure as to whether he was the right guy or not. As soon as somebody outside would make fun of him, our fanbase would melt and go ballistic about what an idiot he was, rather than stay calm and point out the (many, frankly) good points he's brought here. That encouraged more snarky comments, and resulted in more insecurity around here. The atmosphere just became toxic to work in. If you look at many reports coming out, the boosters were out to can him after he lost in the second BCS title game he got to, after winning the first. Forget about how they lost for a second, and consider the fact that he was able to get to 2. That's at least 1 more than any of his replacement candidates have managed, and matches the total appearances (and wins) of the entire group. You'd think, if this was any other power program, that would earn some respect. But here, he remained a buffoon in most people's eyes.
Some of this is on the fanbase and community. Look at how other coaches are treated elsewhere- Stoops at Oklahoma is known nationally as "big game Bob" because he can't win them enough. He's safe. Saban has made some extremely asinine, whiny, arrogant statements when things don't go his way. He's revered. Urban Meyer basically shite his spleen out at Florida, and made the most transparent excuse ever to get out of the SEC, and now people speak of him as maybe the best alongside Saban at Ohio St.

You're fricking stupid
Completely stupid
You expect LSU to replicate one of if not THE best season in school history year after year??
How do you function on a daily basis

Didn't think you'd answer

the media is a big part of the problem. have you seen how many channels are devoted to sports 24 hours a day? it's big business. they don't give a damn about anything but numbers.
LSU is concerned about numbers, so we are thinking about making a change.
I don't know why the pumpers worry about what other people think. we need to do what's best for us.

To be fair there are a bunch of inbred fricking retards in north central Alabama who can realistically expect this, so why can't Louisiana's inbred retards?

The best thing to do is not watch ESPN and not check message boards until a new hire is made, anything else is just speculation and no one knows anything of substance until it actually happens.

Why do you think that is a commonly held opinion about the man?

They, the media commentators, say this about almost every program that fires a coach. It is the politically correct thing to say. It makes them seem like nice people. No one like to be fired or see someone else fired. It is not pleasant. But this is a business. I don't see anyone crying when a CEO at a major company gets canned. No, people think it's just business. Well that's what this is. LSU's football CEO is not getting the job done anymore. He was once pretty good. But the last few years have been not so good. In fact, many (including myself) would say that he has been downright incompetent. It is time to cut ties and move on. The worst thing for this program now is to have Miles stay on for a year or two longer. And don't cry for Miles, he has been and will be very well compensated, better than 99.9% of people in this country.

As an Alabama fan this was the same response when Mike Shula was fired. I also remember how the fan bases at the other SEC teams pleaded with us to keep Shula "for our good!" One of the most amusing websites created during that time was "KeepMikeShula.com."
I am not saying Miles is Mike Shula! I actually encourage you to keep Miles :). I actually do understand why a change must come.
