I was a huge fan growing up with Ricky Blanton, Chris Jackson, Stanley, Shaq, etc. after that didn't really get excited till stromile came aboard. Then big baby and Garrett temple. Typical bandwagon I guess. After seeing the last two hires we need to find someone that is decent at both or can hire the right guys to cover any deficiencies. Trent was a very good coach but couldn't recruit. Johnny is the exact opposite. They haven't made the right assistant hires to make up for anything that they are not good at. Other thing is money. Not saying we need to pay calipari money but $1.5m won't get u an elite coach. With the budget issues I don't see the pay changing so take a gamble on a has been or a up and coming coach. With the one and done rule that makes it more difficult to keep momentum going from season to season. Not expecting sweet 16 every year but we should make the 64 every year.

Flame away.

The Clarence Caesar time was pretty fun to watch.

I would not go that far, I though Trent was an average coach who was not a good recruiter or a good fit here. Ticked Temple off, which I kinda liked, and held the players accountable, which I liked, but couldn't get enough talent, had too many kids who could not play at this level and for whatever curious reasons never had his full allotment of scholarship players on the roster.

Don't agree here either, I think they've had good assistants, I don't think Johnny is a good or effective delegator from what I've heard. Very hands on.

Not even Slimey Cal makes the dance every year, but most years I'd say we should expect to. Heck making the tournament as a 9 seed is akin to playing in the Independence Bowl. We should at least get there most years.

LSU isn't an elite basketball program much less so a basketball school. What "elite" coach would take the LSU job when basketball isn't a priority like at Duke, Kentucky, Louisville, North Carolina?

You will be able to find a coach who doesn't want that stage and wants to build his own legend... Who that is? I dunno.

If I had my pick, I would rather have LSU's football program be the best in the country vs the basketball program being elite. I'm nowhere near envious of what Kentucky has in basketball because their football team isn't any good. That doesn't mean I don't want a successful basketball team but if given the option, I would rather not be Kentucky.
