david jenkins is really good. he will play a lot and play well.

vadal alexander and tray turner was plowing holes for hillard against the first team d. very good sign.

r. martin is as good of safety as we have had. he's just the next in line.

we don't have a back up qb who can come in and win games if 8 is injd.

32, jalen collins, has a ways to go in covering the deep ball. they picked on him a lot. most of mett's yards came against him.

the t.d. to shep was a pro throw, pro catch, and pro defense. defender couldn't have covered better, shep and mett just made a better o play.

our wr's can and will catch anything close. wright stopped and caught a ball behind him. landry one handed a screen. obj didn't drop anything. even shep look good catching.

rb's are as advertised

mett, struggled early, got it going. he's the best thing we've seen at qb since flynn and jmac. he's better than what we had last year for sure. he looks guys off, finds other wr's when the primary is covered, he moves in the pocket well. his one bad throw was staring at the wr and martin pulled a mo claiborne on him.

rasco is very good. the two freshmen lbs are the best freshmen lbs i've seen at lsu since james and faulk. ego has improved as well.

barrow doesn't tackle well

all in all, impressive. i think we are deeper at o-line and db than i thought we were. my main concern is if something happens to 8. we really don't have someone that is close to being ready.

Thanks for the post. I didn't actually see the game but I came away with the same feeling except for the Rivers evaluation. Why because I think Rivers is young and will improve by the time fall gets here and even more by the time his number might be called.

But like I said I didn't see the game just listened to it.

The first 2 passes by Rivers were dropped by Williams. After that A. Williams caught everything close to him. This is spring practice. Rivers looked a lot better than most thought he would when they signed him. He should be the starter in 2 years after Mett. goes pro.

All good stuff and agreed on all counts. Including

scary thought. If mett goes down for any reason we are pooched. Granted our backfield is as good as it gets but the QB situation would be worse than Jefferson if mett gets injured.

he also made a NICE adjustment on that deep ball in the first quarter.

Really? If Mett, Rivers, and Randall go down our quaterback situation is still better than last year. We had Jordan fricking Jefferson as a quaterback. It doesn't get worse than that.

Pretty much what I was thinking. Now, if we have the same defense as we did in08 then he might have a point.

I loathe the air jefferson breathes as much as the next person, but having a 3 year starting senior who knows the offense is better than having 2 RSFR with zero experience and who appear to need atleast another 2 years from being able to be effective in any substantial degree. Rivers has potential and comes from a great QB family background but he's extremely raw and it showed today. Randall has a cannon and is very mobile, but again not close to ready to win games in the SEC. Perhaps saying they're worse than jefferson is a reach but my point is we all need to pray Mett stays healthy.

Good notes. How did the Freak look? also, if you had a french poodle at qb it would be better than what we had last year. Not worried about qb's, only worried about lb's.

i agree id rather rivers over jj,i thought he did pretty good considering he was going against the best def.in the nation.and i am confident in saying he looked better than jj did in any spring game.

Issue multiple No.8 jerseys as insurance.

We could throw in any of the former QBs and run wildcat and be better than we were with that 3 year starting senior. JMO, YMMV.

I disagree about Rivers. I think he's good enough. We can beat every team on our schedule except Alabama with him. Running game, defense, special teams, he would only have to make a few passes. We beat GA by 4 td's with the worst first half offensive performance anyone has ever seen.

I agree we have basically the same team except the way I see it we now have three qb's maybe more that we better than JJ.

Seriously did any of them look worse than JJ in the spring game. Rivers isn't perfect but we go to the NCG last year without a perfect quarterback.

Garfield would have been a better Qb than JJ. Who ever we have at Qb when the season ends will be better than JJ was!
