my outlook for 2013.........

I know we have a lot of question marks with all the jrs moving on, but that's college football! Teams look completely different every two years, that's just how it is.
I have a tremendous amount of faith in Chavis and the amount of talent he has to work with. The guy just knows how to field SEC defenses and he has a roster full of guys who can play his type of D.
There are going to be so many of these guys that are going to be superstars and house hold names come September, it's just a matter of who? Rasco? Kwon? Mills? I can't wait to find out.
I could see the possibility for one of the best D units in the country, I could also see on that struggles at times but still very good.
Our offense is essentially entirely intact and despite what you think about mett and the coaching, it can only get better from here IMO. And I think it will, maybe not super powered but better. I think we're going to see some meaningful adjustments, call me a sunshine pumper if you want.
The best part nobody is talking about? We have a big test week 1 in TCU, they're a good team and they're going to demand our best. Which makes for a very productive Spring and Summer getting prepared. And that could be the key to our whole season, developing players this off season (esp on D) that is.
I see 10-2 with a chance at 11-1 and the West title. From there who knows.
Worst case, 9-3 and the Cap one bowl. But considering the early departures and the schedule, wouldn't be a bad year at all.

Very optimistic given the replacements required on defense. The team goes as the offense produces next year.
Bama, Florida, A&M, Georgia on the schedule.

We would be back in the Chicken Bowl at 9-3.

I can't have a good prediction for next season because this team is just so unpredictable.. anywhere from 11-1 to 8-4.. We just have to have faith.

Nailed it.

If we can have more than 8 wins AND beat Bama, I'd call it a sucessfull rebuild/reload season.

Worst case 9-3 and Cap 1 Bowl?? We went 10-2 and Chickfila this year. 9-3 isn't getting you Cap 1 Bowl anymore.
Our defense will be young but talented. The LBs could be the strength for a change. The DL will be very young but potential is there. The secondary wont be great and will give up big plays. The offense will be relatively in tact as long as the OL doesn't fall apart. Yet with our play calling and offensive coaching in general I don't expect any improvement.
The schedule puts you on the road at Bama and Georgia, plus TCU in their home state. 10-2 may be the goal IMO but 9-3 seems more realistic.

I agree anythign from 9-3 on up. It will be an exciting year. We saw glimpses from younger players this year but it will be nice to see what they do as every down players next year. Who pans out and who doesn't. One thing is for sure we will be very athletic and fast across the board. The D will be stronger than most think imho.

9-3 maybe worse if Miles doesn't hire a OC and get out of the way.

Miles wants to win more then any of us. He also doesn't want to be in the doghouse with tiger nation.
I'm confident he can get the right guys in the right place on offense. I know hes stubborn and I know hes learned some lessons the hard way. But that doesn't mean he hasn't learned.
He figured it out on D? Went and got Chavis, all is right in the world on that side of the ball. Why can't he do that again? Gary Crowton was bad for our style of play, Krags might've worked but didn't with his health, Stud is an OL coach (a good one too IMO) who couldn't make the adjustment to play caller.
Miles will figure it out, I'm confident. And now that Faulk is back, I'm optimistic about what's ahead of us...........

Let's see - losing a ton on defense while still having to face JFF and AJ lead teams. Little to no hope of marked improvement on offense. Just to refresh your memories:
Year Total Offense Ranking Pass Ranking
2012 85 92
2011 73 105
2010 86 107
2009 112 97
2008 55 71
So can the offense carry the team while a young defense comes into its own? The record of the last 5 years says that if we're not GREAT on defense, we'll be lucky to win 8.

Do some of you pussies even follow our recruiting?? Do you not think that players like J.Collins,Mills,Freak,Rasco,Eugene,Martin,Debo or Kwon will take a step towards being All-SEC caliber players?? I swear some of you suck at life!!!
Mo,Reid,Minter,Mingo,Logan and Brockers pretty much all took huge strides in just one summer to big-time players....bitch about the offense and Miles all you want, but our defense will still be STOUT as hell!!

Good post..
People always want to point out the older guys leaving but they forget that the young guys are getting older and now have vital experience

Some of these clowns have no clue how huge this season was into grooming Mills and Collins into studs.

With LSU's style of offense and loss on defense to the draft I would say 8-4 at best more like 7-5 and that is because of coaching and talent surrounding the rest of the SEC
Alot of tough road games and a loss to average teams too
Tougher competition and loss of top recruits to schools nearby
Defense questionable on if it can carry the load it has been!
Offense faced with 4th and 2 on 80 plus percent of possessions
Even with a newly fresh spurt of defensive replacements having to play 3 quarters or better of the game and score half the points they gonna come up short in the end!
