My first memories of LSU football.

Thanks to all of you for your discussions concerning the coaching situation.
Just thought I'd throw a little something that might be more light hearted. All this post will really prove is that I am old.
I have two "first time memories" of LSU.
1. Billy Cannon. I was a kid when he played at LSU. But, my dad was a college football nut. We used to listen to LSU at night, WWL. I remember him with the return that has gone down in football, not just LSU lore. I remember listening to the game. Honesty: I don't recall if the opponent was Ole Miss or Bama. I think it was Bama, but I'm not sure.
2. Paul Dietzel and the Chinese Bandits. NCAA has some strange substitution rules back then. So, Deitzel came up with a creative way to circumvent those rules. Had his defense run a couple of offensive plays at the end of a quarter (I think, but once again not sure) because that allowed him to have more freedom in substitutions the next quarter.
Because LSU played so many night games, I grew up somewhat of an LSU fan. Whenever we were in the car on Saturday nights in the Fall we could count on getting the LSU football game on WWL, no matter where we were in the southeast.
Good memories.
And, BTW, LSU has the coolest midfield logo in the country. No other logo comes close.

My 1st LSU home game was none other than the earthquake game at the tender age of 5.
We sat in the South endzone & I remember being on my brother's Godfather's shoulders the entire 4th quarter. When we scored it was so loud that I could hear everything very clearly eventhough my hands covered my ears.
Fell in love with the purple & gold right then & there. Attended every single Skip Bertman & LSU football camp/clinic that I could after that night. Right up until I enrolled in the Fall of 2001.
Did not miss an LSU home game from the age of 8 until the season after I graduated from LSU. Very sad time when I ended my streak. But I shall be there tomorrow, with my white hat for Coach Miles, to see these boys try to finish with some dignity.

It really sounds like you have a strong affinity for LSU. Stop denying yourself the opportunity to join the Tiger faithful, follow Jimbo on over. Given your age, you haven't much time.

Nothing lasts forever.
I hate to see Miles go, but the future is bright for LSU.

Nice.
I have great memories too.
First game was watching Stovall run wild although I don't remember a lot of it.
Tiger Stadium and LSU have always been special for me.
Dad took me to many a game in the 60s and 70s. Moved away and have been hitting one or two games a year.
Favorite?
71 vs ND
79 vs SC
Tossup

Hehe. That's what I tell people when they find out it's my birthday. "You better wish me a happy birthday. This might be your last chance."

I remember the FSU LSU brawl when I was 7 or 8 so that would've been 89, 90?

I have attended three LSU-FSU games. All three were memorable.
