My Dream Hire(s) and Fires

Hires:
- Dick Bumpas (current TCU DC) – he’s 65 so I wouldn’t expect him to coach much longer but would be a HR hire as DC. You can find some skeletons in his closet as with anyone who’s coached any length of time (ex: TCU blew a 21 pt 4th qtr lead vs Baylor this yr) but has a great track record.
- Bill Clark (outgoing UAB HC) – would be DCIW and perhaps HCIW. Like everything I’ve heard about this guy. Does he have any deep-seated animosity toward Bama over the UAB program? Another positive!
- Ed O – I don’t know the whole story but apparently had some ill-will toward LSU at one time. Sounds like he’s over it. And if the prodigal did come home, he would bring as much passion for LSU as perhaps anyone who’s ever coached here in any capacity.
Fires (if needed to make room):
TE Coach – nothing against Steve; would be strictly a business decision since just not sure how much a TE position coach can contribute to a staff
BDP – probably not as bad as some think. There was some drop off on ST’s. But if there’s someone else who can coach ST’s then another business decision.
Brick – may be perception only, but it seems as if our front-4 rarely gets pressure by themselves. That was true even for large parts of ’12 (vs Bama, State, Arky, and Clemson).

Get rid of CLM and everything else will fall into place

Of course it's that easy, because top tier programs like Tennessee, Texas, Michigan, etc... are all doing really well after firing a previous coach.

Bill Clark (
How do you not have Bob Shoop on your list? He has done nothing but make opposing offenses hate him.

Maybe you could take his place?

I don't think we should fire Les but those teams waited too long when recruiting had slipped and thats why they are where they are. Of course problems were exacerbated with bad hires as well.

Actually there wasn't. We regressed in a few areas but progressed in even more. I'd say it was a wash.
Plus don't know what he can really do about a fg kicker missing easy ones.

Only Tennessee screwed the pooch after Fulmer...
UM fricked up getting rid of Rich Rod...he had them 1st in scoring in the Big 10 all that was left was getting the defense squared away they bailed on him too fast...
Texas has made the right hire with Strong it's going to take more than one season to undue the mess Mack left Texas in...
