When we hired Steele the big knock on him was game day composure. I think moving him to the booth shows how good Miles is as a manager of not only players but his staff.

Putting Steele in the booth gives him a bit of physical and mental distance that seems to keep him fit for the game.

I personally don't see how some of these guys do it from the sideline.. I've only coached at lower levels but the benefits of seeing what they are doing has to be instrumental to most. I guess if you have the trust of your boot team and pics to scheme off then it's not as difficult.. Just a different mindset between the two with much less emotion I would imagine.

It must be WAY easier to scheme and call plays from the booth. You can see the whole field and any extracurricular activity from defenses. However, you lose that emotion and communication to the players during timeouts/breaks that would have been present if a coach is on the sideline.

Yes. Coach O is there, but hes not the DC. Steele may want to highlight/point out things differently from Coach O.

I think the knock on Steele was that he is over emotional

I could have sworn before the season started I heard/read on here that he would be in the box. Has he not been?

You do realize he is communicating with the sideline right?

Ah, gotcha. Yea, with the history...that was the right move for sure. Plus, all we need is O on the sidelines

Steele can communicate anything he needs to to any player through O and Raymond. Just like Cam can through Frank, Ensminger, and Tony Ball

with technology now though you can get all the info you need on the sideline with communication with players but I think being in the booth is best for all involved. Funny thing is most NFL coordinators are on sideline.

Of course I know that.... Just stating that sometimes communication errors may occur when trying to relay a message from someone else, instead of saying it directly. With that said, I believe Steele is right where he needs to be. In the booth.
