No, a lot of what you are looking at is the frame and mount. I'm not sure what you'd call it, but the camera is on some kind of jib attached to the videographer. The high speed HD camcorder that Peter Jackson uses is smaller and lighter than the camcorder my family bought in the late 80s.

It's called a Steadicam rig (or glidecam if you're poor). The camera is a normal size news camera (probably an Panasonic HPX-500), but most HD cameras are smaller than that. Look at the RED Epic or the ARRI Alexa.
