So, there's a thread about favorite non-championship bowl wins....How about the opposite? And non-championship, so no 1-9-12 mentions.....

Clemson in the 12 Chick Fil A (25-24) and both Notre Dame losses (Music City in 14 and Citrus in 18) are probably my top 3 most frustrating. Shitty field loss to Penn St in 10 Cap One (19-17) and 05 Cap One to Iowa 30-25) are both close honorable mentions.

The Iowa (2005) game and the ND (2018) losses were both frustrating as frick.

This was the first one that popped in my head. I went to that game, lost my overtime pay at work (I was willing to accept that because I thought we'd win that game) but that game was so annoying.

2012 Clemson and both ND losses. In the first we got hosed on the fake field goal that was clearly a TD. Next time, O decided to kick it from the 1.

‘85 and ‘87 Sugar Bowls vs Nebraska. They flat kicked our asses both times. To date LSU has never beaten Nebraska in football. We owe them big time.

Saban's last game. The last frick when breaking up is supposed to be good. That shite sucked.

ETA: it was anti-climatic

The one that comes to my mind was the Citrus Bowl against Joe Paterno's Penn State team. We lost a chance to win at the end because of an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for pulling people off of the pile when the refs were just going to let them lay there while the clock was running.

I was at the game. Got rained on and froze my butt off.

That game shouldn’t even be considered legitimate because of the field conditions and officiating at the end.

2018 Notre Dame gets the nod because I went to that one.

Coach O was being a massive pansey and was playing scared the entire game. He refused to play to win and it costed us the game.

This.

It was clear Hill was the best player on the field that night. So Miles, in his infinite wisdom, decides to stop handing the ball to Hill at a time when it looked like LSU was ready to pull away. The same Miles who, for much of the season, avoided throwing the ball as much as possible.

Of course, with LSU on the brink of blowing out Clemson, Miles lets them back in the game. Leading to a nerve-racking 4th quarter where LSU plays on a razors edge and ultimately loses in the end.

Les Miles had to be secretly paid as an executive producer by the TV networks. I cant remember a coach who was so good at making sure the game was tight in the 4th quarter...regardless of how the first 3 quarters were played. He was truly adept at making sure LSU could always fight back from behind...as well as give the opponent just enough opportunity to come back in the 4th quarter.

That was the Capital One Bowl played at the Citrus Bowl Stadium. I was there as well. Poured down rain right before the start of the game and soaked us, and we were wet throughout the first half. LSU seemed to be in slow motion due to the cow pasture of a field. And the refs at the end were atrocious--the Penn State players were laying around delaying the game but the refs called the Tigers for the unsportsmanlike penalty. It seemed to me like the refs favored Joe Pa so as to give him a good going away before he retired--which unfortunately was forced anyway by the Sandusky issue.

We can be mad at the refs for not calling delay of game for the penn state guys laying on our players, but it's equally on Les for calling a fricking bubble screen with no timeouts left and we need to work the sidelines

Maybe the 1989 All American Bowl (now Outback Bowl) loss to Syracuse. After that game we entered the worst decade of football in our history and you got a taste of what was coming.

What I remember is the OL forgetting how to block. I want to say Zach was sacked 6 times or so.
