Said that LSU is hurting itself by throwing Johnny Wholestaff every midweek game. It's not allowing us to develope a fourth starter. He mentioned last year we only really had Poche and Lange and never developed a third guy because it was Wholestaff every midweek. We ended up having to throw Wholestaff in Omaha.

Anyone agree? I think it's valid.

Makes sense, which is why this coach won't do it.

Unreal. What a clown.

I got annihilated for asking about this last midweek game.

Any ways, many like it because it keeps our guys fresh. I would still prefer a 4th starter personally. We are dealing with some pitching injuries though, Cartwright and Latz.

I am not sure you can develop a lack of talent.

I agree in theory, but the bats have been the problem during 90% of the mid week losses

This year you have a legit third starter so it is completely different. Even last year lets say you have Valek and in Omaha for game three you throw him. After that the plan was to go Poche then Lange again anyway. You don't need more than three starters. I'm ok with Wholestaff in mid week games as long as you have a legit third guy that you trust.

What would we do if we had an injury to a weekend started?

And we're lucky Akron shut down baseball.

It's comical how we do not develop 5-6 inning guys.

I mean, 4 runs isn't bad. it just looks bad when you're only scoring 1.

I thought, unless you win the first two games, you need 4 starters in Omaha. Will Paul ever win the first two games in Omaha again?

Wrong you can do it with 3. 1 and 2 guy pitches first 2 go 1 and 1. 3 guy pitches and win move on and have to beat the undefeated team twice. 1 and 2 guy pitches again on short rest. It's tough and not what you want but can be done. Plus if you spread your bullpen guys out and manage pitch counts you can pitch them in every game. The key in this situation is not the number of starters but quality depth in the bullpen.

I like Moscona and think he is a good radio host but baseball is by far his least knowledgable sport. He was legitimately trying to make the fact LSU has a low number of strikeouts a negative earlier in the year.

The players play uninspired ball behind Johnny Wholestaff, it's really that simple. The pitching was actually not the problem this time.

Speaking of strikeouts, our numbers have to be way up the last few games.
