We heard so much from Canada, Orgeron, and the team that Etling had more velocity and power behind his throws after the surgery.

I really saw it this past weekend and it was evident early in the game. On two third downs in the first quarter, Etling threw across the field to Derek Dillon twice right against the sideline. You could really see that the ball wasn't floating over there and beat the DB right on time. (Dillon also showed strong hands... thank god our receivets can catch now) This will bode well when we play faster and more experienced secondaries that will challenge our receivers and tighten those windows. I look forward to seeing this passing game develop with Etling's expanded ability.

If he had hit Chark in stride, 6.

I agree, but prepare for all these madden experts telling you those throws lack velocity. I honestly cannot see wtf they are talking about. It's like they want someone to throw as hard as they can for the hell of it.

Sounds counterintuitive, but Etling will never have the tight spiral jump out of his hands that Harris does, but he Etling will be the better QB.

touch and throwing a "catchable ball" is an underappreciated trait

when your first critique is a 51 yard completion, I'm feeling pretty good about that

I'll take Etling over 10 delay of game penalties, and a lost dazed and confused look twords the sideline anyday

no doubt. I like Etling. He's got moxie, no doubt. Ever since he took over our offense doesn't look confused.

Etling's velocity is fine when he can set his feet. Where he struggles is when he's under pressure or does not have a clean pocket. Not a complaint, just an observation.

Etling has a perfectly viable college arm.

It's not a big arm. But, he's not a rag arm either.

Would it be nice if he had more zip? Well yeah. But, it's not something to get all wound up about. He's not lobbing the thing.

You've just described almost any college QB. Canada knows exactly how to play to Etling's strengths. I expect this season to yield our best offensive production in many years.

Exactly.

Harris has MUCH more velocity and a bigger arm than Etling.

But, as has been proven a thousand times in football, a big arm is nice. It isn't all you need.

I think he legit threw it as far as he could. He's a college QB so I'm okay with it.

Roughly 52 yards through the air, but it looked like he could have put a little more on it if needed. He didn't look like he was maxed out, which is a good thing.
