Today starts the abbreviated MLB season. As I see opening day rosters tweeted out by the various teams, I recognize names from old LSU team, old opponents, or guys that were committed to LSU that signed pro instead.

On the Rangers opening day roster is former reliever Nick Goody, former commit Joey Gallo, former opponents Lance Lynn (Ole Miss), Mike Minor (Vandy), Corey Kluber (Stetson). As I get bored throughout the day, I will search old box scores and post them.

Here is the Kluber Stetson game from 2007: LINK

The Angels have former commit Cam Bedrosian along with former opponents Mike Mayers (Ole Miss) and Anthony Rendon (Rice).

The Royals are starting former Florida ace Brady Singer on opening day.

He will be without the services of 3rd baseman Hunter Dozier who went 2-5 with a double against LSU while playing at Stephen F Austin in 2013: LINK Dozier tested positive for Covid-19 and is on the DL.

I thought I remembered that. Looking at old seasons on LSUsports.net, they have the wrong logo for Fullerton so I missed it when I was looking for those games.

Just gonna mention Austin Nola with the Mariners.

He debuted end of last year with them and did very well.

I would be shocked if he is not included on their OD roster

He's on the roster. He would have been splitting time with Tom Murphy, but Murphy broke a bone in his foot. Nola should handle the bulk of the starts behind the dish.

Hopefully he can get his bat going. He didn't do very well at the plate in the spring/summer training games, but he's always had it defensively. I wouldn't be surprised to see him up and down throughout the year.

D.J. LeMahieu is a starter for the Yankees. I don't know if he'll play against the Nationals tonight-He had COVID-19 a couple of weeks ago.

The Cal St Fullerton team we played in Omaha in 2003 had Justin Turner (Dodgers) and Kurt Suzuki (Nationals) on it.

Are the lineups posted yet? I haven't seen them. Regardless, with Soto out with the rona as of an hour ago, Stevenson will fill that 4th man in the Nats outfield. Should be fun to watch.
