We need a DL coach no matter who it is. Promoting a ST analyst was always a recipe for disaster but there really weren’t many other options.

Ponder this a minute...LSU's LB's are at best, average. The secondary is playing with true freshman and transfers from lower tiered schools...The greatest indicator of what LSU's LB's and secondary IS was displayed when Milroe steamrolled the DB on the sideline. LSU has an elite, historic offense loaded with 4 star and 5 star studs. The defense is not...Besides Perkins and Smith, who else are 4 or 5 star? Great defenses tackle well...LSU does not. Couple all of this with the fact that the best secondary player, who happens to be the signal caller in the secondary, is out with a brain tumor. To be great, you must replace elite talent with elite talent...LSU does not have that element on defense...painfully disappointing fact...

Mason, guillory, true fr womack and Howard (hurt I think), savion, Wiggins were all elite recruits.
Penn was a solid recruit, weeks was a stud recruit , welch/harris/ jackson/ toviano were all elite recruits.
Combo of our guys being bust + playing passive soft zones and deciding to take it on the chin... vs trying to force the narrative and force Milroe to beat you with the pass.
Why we didn't blitz 5 or 6 every play is beyond me. If we suck at keeping gap assignment. Then send a mother f'r into every gap.. make it so we can't f it up, and tell guys to just go fing explode you'd gap. If he would have thrown for 350 and become Warren moon, you live with that vs him looking lime Derrick Henry gliding past our soft zone bullshite. 2 weeks and that's your game plan. Not even a spy with Perkins who is as fast as him. But we spied Heisman winning elite passes who's half the athlete just last yr. Mind numbing dumb
