He spoke with passion and said that LSU recruits their "needs" and not necessarily the highest star player. He was more upbeat this year than the previous two years. Here are some other observations from the Bash....
1. Got there about 3:30 because of work and me and my buddy got two tickets for 54 bucks total. I heard that the tickets were $45 at the door so I did a double take when the teller gave me two tickets.
2. The food was as good as it has ever been. Between boudin, pizza, jambalaya etc...
3. The beer that LSU is promoting is nothing special. It doesn't stand out as a great beer like the makers hoped it would.
4. Chavis got the most applause when Miles mentioned his name.
5. People were super friendly this year.
6. I didn't hear a single person boo Miles and if they did, they were drownded out by the applause.
7. Miles talked about how the "BIG" QB they signed would occupy at least two defenders to bring him down.

That's good to hear. 2012 has the potential to be better than 2011.

I've been thinking about Liggins and I think with Moffit training him he could be even stronger and faster than Tebow in 2 or 3 years

And I hate to bring this up, but Liggins and Jordan Jefferson in their faces look like they could almost be twins to me.

Not trying to flame at all. It just struck me when I saw Liggins' picture on lsusports.net for the first time. I'm excited to have Liggins and think he will be great for us.

ETA:

Liggins

Jefferson

back to back state championships is no small task for a qb. I just watched some of his interviews and he seems like a good kid. A definite winner. That's great.

Anyone who assumes Liggins is Jefferson 2 is flat out stupid in my book.

I'm not, at all. Again - I am thrilled to have Liggins as a Tiger and look forward to seeing him play.

Dude is missing a kidney and still performing at a high level. Seems like he might have that "survivor" mentality and that is a hard thing to quantify. Give Krag some time with him and let him get Moffitized and we can pass judgement in a couple years. The kid wants to go to a winning program, bucked the system by announcing he will attend LSU instead of Ole Miss in a restaurant in Oxford, MS., talked smack to radio announcer that said Ole Miss was going to beat us this year, and has that winner "swag". He could've gone to Ole Miss and been "the man" and instead chose to come to a winning school, immerse himself in a winning program and try to get better and win championships when it is his turn. The intangibles are there and the body frame is there. Give LSU's staff a chance to evaluate him and mold him before we assume he is the reincarnation of everyone's favorite player to hate.

I Lol'd when he talked about Gunner Kiel. Said Gunner didn't have the "chest" to lead a program to a national title and that's why he's going somewhere where he won't get one.
That was hilarious. Love CLM.
He then went on to say that the staff went and got a kid at QB who had a want to lead a team to victory.
Gotta love the passion. And I hope he's right.

Of course he sounded pumped. He's not going to get up there and sulk and complain...
