Regardless, being overly "conservative" is a flaw that even the great Nick Saban is frequently guilty of as well. He's choked away many a big lead by sitting on the football and trying to run out the clock.

I'll admit that I think Saban is more conservative than Miles. That last drive was unlike miles. We had the chance to get a first down. METTENBERGER WAS ON FIRE and they just run it up the middle. It makes no sense. I honestly liked the way Miles played every part of the game except for that series. It was bullshite and he's done it against USC and Texas AM and gotten away with it. I hope miles has learned his lesson. When you play a team like bama, you put your foot down on the throttle and never let off.

We looked deep wayy more than we have all year, we rolled Mett out with success, and we used play-action with success. We utilized TEs and RBs in the flat.

If we don't keep this offense in place forever, my head will explode off my shoulders.

If you throw the ball and it's incomplete, it's still 17-14. Alabama has 2+ minutes left.

I have no problem with taking the points. You think your kicker will make that kick. That makes it 20-14. Alabama HAS to score a TD to win the game. They don't have to just drive down and kick a FG to go to OT.

We looked deep all afternoon against A&M, we just didn't connect at all (mostly over throws by Mett).

Says the guy that said that LSU would never score or have a chance vs. Alabama's defense.

HOW ARE WE GOING TO MOVE THE BALL VS. ALABAMA????

If the FG is good, LSU kicks off to Bama. Given LSU's kick coverage, Bama gets the ball deep in their territory requiring a longer drive and presumably more plays. That gives the edge to the defense.

Yeah, just to be clear.

I don't believe Miles did anything with the offensive gameplan this week.

He clearly decided to focus his efforts on 2-minute defensive planning.

It was ALL Chavis.
Miles can over rule. After all, he is the head coach right? You constantly remind us of that, so I'm pretty sure that's correct. All that being said, that drive was on Chavis because he was in command of the D. Miles must have approved.

this game proved what most bitched about all year. we did not utilize the passing game correctly as far as routes run etc UNTIL NOW. I give miles credit as he FINALLY changed this against bama. wish he would have done it at UF also.

no complaints from me on the passing routes this game. WE FINALLY USED THE MIDDLE OF THE DAMN FIELD!!!! FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

just some decisions were bad. like the fake FG. then trying a 55 yarder instead of punting.

some decisions were good. onsides kick. going for it on 4th and 1. and trying a FG at the end.

Alleman is not a good FG kicker at all. we came close to getting that onsides kick and i thought we would get the 4th and 1. we outplayed bama.

we should have won but did not. that is the tough part of this. Very proud of Mett and the line and receivers.

I wish more people could discuss mistakes and errors without floating into

OMG MILES SUCKS FIRE HIM FIRE HIM FIRE HIM

It's quite possible that he did a magnificent job coaching overall, but made mistakes.

I think there were decisions made that even he would take back (I believe he said as much himself).

That doesn't mean he did a shite job coaching. Coaching is more than 3-5 decisions made in one game.

or it couldve been a toss play? why do we have to run it up the middle three times in a row? we were successful running laterally all game and then we just stop doing it. Some of Jeremy Hills biggest runs were on those sweeps. The sweeps also run more time off the clock. I wish Miles would have thought this one through a little more.I honestly can't blame any player for how the game turned out. Everyone played lights out. The liability ultimately rests on the shoulders of Miles.

I am still afraid we did well enough to keep the current OC situation.

We played well, but I still don't forget the many more offensive failures than successes this year. If we play similar ball on the way in, I will feel we have turned the corner. I hope we have.

Miles' job should be to evaluate whether the offensive failures are lack of execution (coaches can't play for the players), lack of quality coaching, or both.

I trust him to make the right decision.
