Ok, he's been here for 11 seasons. He is vague as possible in his pressers and interviews.

Most people will say he is just being a poker player, and does not like to give away any secrets.

Meanwhile, I've seen Saban and Urban Meyer and many other coaches give very substantive interviews over the years.

Has anyone heard Miles do that even once?

We hear "tough-nosed", "offense, defense and special teams", and "KAWALITY opponent" till the cows come home, but has anyone seen a substantive interview talking x's and o's.

I have been sitting back for 11 years, and I don't recall it.

Yeah, yeah...If you don't like the question, or do not have a link, you will call the post a name. That's the rant way.

But, before you do so, out of the thousands of interviews and links on Miles, please find some form of substantive discussion of football x's and o's. Maybe I have missed "all of them" somehow.

Meyer maybe, but I'm not sure where you're getting that Saban is substantive in his interviews. He always hands out a few generic lines about doing your job and playing our game on the field and in press conferences he downright cusses at media members. He and Miles are very similar in their philosophy on the media, they just go about it in opposite ways.

If you really want to see Miles talking x and o's look up the SEC inside segment from earlier this year. Miles is very detail oriented in that vid and gives a lot of instruction.

I heard him say once:

"As the game progressed we detected a tendency to defensively overload the strong sides of our formations, and also to forego pass protection upfield by substituting a corner for an extra linebacker to encroach into the gaps, so we increasingly toss-pitched directly into the brunt of their attacks just to show 'em we can't be frightened by tactics."

So you think that just because you don't see him do it he doesn't know it? Contrary to what the rant thinks Les knows x's and o's just maybe those x's and o's are a little outdated and he need to evolve them to modern times. You don't make the money he makes in any industry without knowing what the hell you are doing.

Look at most teams that do the all access things for ESPN. Usually they are second tier power 5 conference teams looking for exposure for their program. LSU doesn't need that.

Each person can draw their own conclusions. All I am saying is that in 11 years, if he had such an interview/discussion, I missed it. I'd love to hear or see it if it exists. I have not been able to find one.

I don't think you are going to find one simply because that isn't how Miles chooses to address the media

I could see this as he MO. But everyone breaks tendency at some point. Once or twice in 11 years would be expected, don't ya think?

Not really. It takes a lot of discipline to be a successful SEC head coach.

yes i have heard him talk to a few groups a special people. From how he talked the offense is heavily dependent on the QB and receivers reading the defense and being on the same page.

I would deem that very generalized football talk. 10,000 foot level observations and/or admission. Not x's and o's.

No. I watched that, and Miles didn't get into Xs and Os.

That show doesn't offer much in the way of substance by design.

SEC Network Announces New Weekly Show “SEC Inside”

quote:

“The show will deliver unique perspectives in a highly produced cinematic style,” said Stephanie Druley, ESPN senior vice president, college networks production.

Because of the camera angles, the viewer often doesn't have a good look at what is happening on the field. That's not even a criticism of the show. The show is meant to be that way. Personally, I don't really like it, but I guess other people do.

The one part of the show that stood out to me was when Miles was telling Tyron Johnson to get upfield instead of making moves -- that oftentimes is good advice/instruction, but a guy like Tyron also should be given some leeway to make moves at times because he can spring a big play with that kind of stuff. The particular play that was the impetus for the instruction couldn't be fully seen because of the camera angle, so I don't know if it was good advice in that instance or not.

SEC Inside this year, some ESPN stuff from years past.
Lots of position/footwork tech stuff you wouldn't understand.
