With QT getting hurt, I hear Herron's name a lot. I also hear Bain, Gilmore and even Valentine as guys that need to step up. Is Mickey not a viable option as a guy with at least some experience in this defense at that position? I never really hear his name mentioned.

It seems no one is expecting much of him on this board. I'm sure he will contribute.

I don't think Johnson just has the body to play ahead of some other guys. He's 6'0-6'1 and the other guys are all 6'3-6'5. He's definitely at a disadvantage.

He's like 5'11 maybe.

Freak measurables in the gym sometimes don't translate to good football. Im sure he'll get in some rotation or special teams.

You don't hear his name because nobody else sees/hears anything good about him in practice. He was passed up by freshman last year.

Would any of the offensive linemen be candidates to switch over to DT? Fehoko? Seems like he would be a run stopper for short yardage situations.

Not sure height is an issue, Chucky Hunter is only 6'0" and a gym freak too.

I think LSU has plenty of depth at DT. You have 2 freshman there with MJ, Herron, CL, Bain and Gilmore. Depth is not the issue but experience is.

Judging by his practice photos, Godchaux looks like he might be ready at least physically to play some snaps.

With as much success LSU has had the past several years getting DTs drafted, you would think we would have had more success in recruiting them. I love the DBU tag, but it all starts up front, and we flat out sucked at stopping the run last year and getting inside pressure.

I'm looking forward to seeing the Godchaux name in an LSU uniform. I'm from St John Parish, and it's just the perfect name for the purple and gold. AJ Duhe played at Leon Godchaux HS before it burned down and became East St John.

We did replace them. You're going to run into youth problems consistently when all your juniors leave like what happened to us. Both junior DT starters left for the NFL.

Godchaux is going to be a beast. I was happy we signed him with all the rumors going around he wasn't going to stay committed.

ill never understand why he isn't better. the kid has x-men like strength, he might honestly be the most powerful player in college football, if nothing else he should be immovable and force every run play to the outside.
