Can Coach O coach up MJ enough to make him a serviceable back up at DT? I think so. I'm not saying he'll be Quay Bain, but he might be able to salvage something from this. Wasn't MJ always one of the strongest guys on the team? It seems to me he was a work out warrior but was not getting taught how to play the position at the SEC level.

I think the better question is can O get something out of Herron and Gilmore

I don't think Mickey is going to see much playing time

No one can really say. We hope.

I think more than anything he'll be a guy who logs time late in blowout games when you don't want your contributors at risk for injury. Anything more is icing on the cake.

I just want to know the real reason as to why Bain just up and transfers, one min he is happy to be back playing with the team and the next he is leaving??? hope O can get these boys ready.

Goes to show that Chavis and Haley really dropped the ball recently on recruiting DL talent. Too many misses in recruiting. Same thing that happened on his way out of Tennessee.

Couldn't O talk some sense into Bain?

That should tell you that Miles and company told him to seek a new start at another school. Rumors are that he's had a few off the field issues. I know he was suspended last year for the Wisconsin game. One too many frick ups cost him his scholly.

As do I. I had high hopes for Mickey, and was disappointed when he transferred. He was one of my favorite recruits from his class. He seemed to play with a real ferociousness. Plus, his HS highlight video was set to some wicked, slowish metal tune, as if satan was slowly descending you into hell.

So you don't think he can replace 6 tackles and one pass breakup on the year? You guys act like we lost Nkamadong Suh.

That we lost more than we gained.

I disagree. Mickey comes back motivated, focussed, and with more rep opportunities.

Bain was probably informed by O, that he faced disciplinary work, and demotion until he earned his way back in good graces. I suspect that overwhelmed him. ie not enough chest.

I know you are kind of stating this as your opinion, but how in the hell can you conclude that Johnson was not getting taught how to play his position?

if a player doesn't pan out, it SEEMS TO ME that people always blame the coaches. just like in the classroom great teachers also have slow learners.

Seems to me that it is likely that O wanted Johnson back and contacted him, he doesn't want him back to be a scrub. Bain catches wind of this and gets his feelings hurt and bails.

Sorry Bain, we cant put stock in a guy that gets in trouble. Unless you are a QB.

This. If Herron and Gilmore step up along with Lacouture, Godchaux, and some of the freshman, DT may actually end up a strength.

I can confirm that occurred. Don't know why Bain bailed.
