Fess Irvin lost that game to IU to advance to the final 4. I was very mad after that game. The team came from no where and had it wrapped up. Missed free throws and I think a turnover in the last minute did us in.

This...and frick Bobby Knight as well.

When I think of Nikita Wilson, I think of an old "Inside LSU Basketball w/ Dale Brown." They did a senior player spotlight on Nikita and played back all of his highlights in slow mo to this Elton John song:

NIKITA

It was SO cheesy, and now every time I hear that name I think of the song. Damn you 1980s LSU video production staff.

The refs blew the game against Indiana. Bobby "prick" Knight was upset at a call that he didn't get, slams a phone down that is at the scorers table and doesn't get a technical? Wow. The sad part is that LSU would have gone to the final 4 in NEW ORLEANS!!!!! Woulda, coulda.
Nikita had the lowest trajectory shot in the history of basketball for those who remember.

We were oh-so-close to getting into the Final Four - which was played in....the Superdome. Oh man.
The scorer's table and officials blew that game for LSU - letting Bobby Knight LITERALLY thrash his open fist on the scorer's table, RIGHT IN FRONT OF EVERYONE, as hard as he fricking could, over and over and over.

No call. Nothing.

Also as I recall Fess Irvin missed the front end of a 1-and-1 which could have given us a 2 point lead.

Oops. just saw your post above mie2cents
You're right, it WAS a phone.

best turnaround jumper in college. If only he'd have gotten that last shot off on the baseline instead of in the lane...

from what I remember, the trajectory was so low because he was shooting it from so high a jump. Almost shooting DOWN at the basket!

Put a cork in it snarkasaurus. You made the claim. Not me.

The image you have in your own mind of all of Dale Brown's players is off, by a lot.

Nikita is similar to all of the players that played for Dale Brown. They all are involved in their communities and mentoring kids, etc.

I remember Knight pounding that phone. Flat out intimidated the refs and he knew it. I hate that prick to this day. I also played in a BB tournament in high school when Nikita was at Leesville. We sat right in front of them before their game. I was amazed at how classy the whole team was. Just didn't expect that from a group of high school kids.
