Can we never schedule a FCS opponent again? Please? When you win like this, it feels like a loss. FCS opponents don't do anything for your schedule, but can make you look bad.

Even though, LSU could have found a Southern Miss, or Rice, Or Utep of some kind out there to come play...

Southern Miss played Louisville
Rice played Houston
UTEP played ECU

Not everyone that is below us has open dates.. Maybe Towson was the best the LSU Athletic Department could come up with on short notice.

Towson was ranked 12th in the FCS.. Some teams had to schedule Savannah State on short notice. We could have scheduled worse.

you cant just pick a team and MAKE them play you if they have an open date. Thats like football rape.

Both teams have to consent.

Im sure they did try to schedule a more formidable opponent, but no means no.

Yea lets load the schedule with juggernaut teams..

Not like we don't play @ a hostile Auburn, @ a Top 10 Florida, Home vs a Top 10 South Carolina, @ a hostile Texas A&M, Home vs #1 Alabama.. etc...

As well as the Washington team we beat showed they were better than people thought.

With the way our team is still building chemistry in some areas, mostly due to injury after injury. I don't mind a FCS opponent.

I thought that was next year or was it delayed due to their Big 12 transfer?

I don't think this is true. To my knowledge, TCU was always scheduled for 2013-2014. I think LSU had an open date on the schedule simple as that and filled it with Towson.

We have FCS opponents for at least the next three years I believe so we better get used to it.

We were supposed to do a Home and Home with TCU starting this year..

I don't remember exactly why they were dropped.. It was either them transferring to the Big 12 didn't line up the schedules. Or Texas A&M joining the SEC and us having to adjust our schedule didn't work for them. Or maybe both.

I didnt say they didnt. But they have to agree to play us. The athletic dept. probably got turned down. I could very easily see that happening.

WRONG. Did you notice that State played at Troy this year, or that Baylor went to Monroe? Do you know why? If you don't give a lower tier FBS program a two for one to get a discount for giving them a home date, then they will hit your program up for a BIG chunk of change. There is more demand than supply, and they know it. It's how many programs fund their football team. This problem is why the rule to count an FCS game toward your bowl total once every few years was put into effect. There aren't enough teams in the WAC, CUSA, the MAC and the Sun Belt to pad everyone's schedule.

All that said, we had a team drop us from their schedule late because of conference uncertainty. That pretty much doomed us to pick up an FCS team. Here's my question. If you are going to do that, is it smart to bring in a good one? One that has a good coach and players and can do some damage if you don't show up to play. It's one thing to schedule great OOC games, because players get up for them and fans pack the stadium. No one cares about any FCS team. Scheduling good ones just isn't wise. Just ask Michigan. Next time, get a SWAC or MEAC team and sleepwalk all you want.
