Maybe LSU can follow the example and peek at their candidate list too?

We'd have to actually have a candidate list first.

My bet is Kevin Keatts to LSU. Which I would think is a good hire.

NC State should be able to get a bigger fish

Bold? They fired him but are letting him finish the season. That's idiotic. If it was one game, fine. But he's got 5 games and the conference tourney.

He's got a top 5 player and they could get hot and win the ACC tourney. Unlikely but possible. If you have him gone you don't give him a chance to breathe again.

Who do you think will get a better coach, LSU OR NC State?

NCState will prob get a bigger name. It's a better job. Who knows how successful they will be in the ACC though.

I would agree with you, but...

The SEC is desperate for someone to stake a claim as "best program in the league besides Kentucky and sometimes Florida". Beyond those two, this league is a large pile of useless scrap metal. I think Avery Johnson has a head start and Alabama is on its way there and Bruce Pearl has good young talent at Auburn and I think they will rise...but any competent coach has the facilities and capabilities of coming here and putting LSU in the top half of the league in no time.

He is my top choice, so I'd be 100% on board with this one.

Based upon that list, $2 million can get you a top notch coach. There is no need to penny pinch here. The most likely candidate for the LSU job mentioned in this piece is the guy who got fired.

Well im sure Alleva will just hire Zack Kendrick. Not doing his job is what Alleva does best.

I really would like for us to consider Monty Williams, but that would be too risky and creative for Aleva.

Parents would absolutely love him, and he fits in extremely well in Louisiana.

His players would take a bullet for him too.

Also one of the best in the NBA at coaching out of timeouts. He demands excellence off the court

Some of the names being spewed out here and subsequent "Justification Comments" by the Rant Peanut Gallery reinforces my opinion of just exactly what we're dealing with here...............

I think the bigger point is that N.C. State has lost 6 straight big and their AD made a move. Johnny Jones has lost like 11 straight and is having a much worse couple of years and still nothing from our AD. That to me shows the difference in competence.

Not sure how you got downvotes for suggesting Monty. The only issue with him is he's no nonsense so he wouldn't be much of a salesman. With his family situation he might just want to say in the Spurs cocoon for a while.

"Searching the country "

What a unusual idea!

Someone send that story to JA. Maybe it will give him a hint as to how an AD does a real search.

Unfortunately the combination of Alleva and Alexander with sprinkled influence from the board will make the decision. I cannot think of a worse combination in any other Athletic Department in the country. Wait.....maybe we can ask a former coach who was a great recruiter and under achieved when loaded due to an inability to actually coach and a former player? That would work.
