So is there a consequence for meeting in the mound too long? Can the ump award a call or advance runners? Just wondering.

I'm sure he can eject a pitcher if he refuses to play ball

I'm sure there's an obscure rule somewhere on it. What would likely happen is the coach or someone would tell him to f off and they'd be ejected.

Baseball is a gentlemanly game though, so it's best to just be cool on all sides.

I would imagine there is a rule about it...but I have never seen any consequence...they always break it up when the ump walks out...

There's a rule but the ump will just say lets go boys and you get another couple seconds then roll

I've never pitched before, but wouldn't spending time standing around talking cool you down and not enhance your pitching?
