9-3 teams don't normally play 7-5 teams in bowls. Because we're 8-3 and not 9-3, that played a factor. Also not being able to reach 10 wins sucks. The team better not take Texas Tech lightly though. They kicked Arkansas' butt in Fayeteville. Something we were never close to doing at home.

This has already been discussed along with other possibilities

Ultimately I believe the new selection set up has hurt us and will continue to hurt us for the forseeable future. Until the SEC balances the florida bowls with an equivalent prestige bowl a la the old outback/cotton west teams will get the short end of the stick. We would be the ideal pick up for the old cotton.

Is this what we've become? Arguing that our failure to be able to play an FCS team cost us a chance at playing in a shitty bowl as compared to a slightly less-shitty bowl.

God help us.

So we could have potentially gone to a slightly less shitty bowl? Darn.

This is the cotton bowl pairings since the SEC had a tie in. This is what we would be in under the old system.

I sure as hell would rather and be much more excited about the Cotton bowl against TCU over the Texas Bowl vs Texas Tech.

In all fairness probably not so much a FCS opponent as playing one less game. Sad to me at least, because I believe LSU deserves better given their record versus the schedule played and while I do respect LSU, I'm certainly not a LSU fan.
