He was getting on base a lot which is by far most important for a leadoff hitter. He has a .427 OB% which is great, McMullen is now just behind him at .412.

When it comes to a leadoff guy give me a .250 hitter with a .400 OB% over a .300 hitter and .350 OB% all day err-day.
